Legal Counsel (Mandarin Speakers)

Job Description

• Negotiate and draft commercial contracts, company policies, and legal documents across multiple jurisdictions.
• Shape internal governance by creating and refining policies, memos, and regulatory reports.
• Manage the global intellectual property portfolio, safeguarding IQI's trademarks and brand assets.
• Lead legal due diligence for international expansions, joint ventures, and strategic projects.
• Track regulatory changes and advise on updates to ensure agility and compliance.
• Support diverse legal matters, including corporate, commercial, litigation, and cross-border transactions.
• Collaborate with external counsel and business partners to align legal strategy with operational goals.
• Advise business units across real estate, PropTech, hospitality, valuation, and design to ensure compliance.
• Contribute to special projects and ad-hoc legal initiatives.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) with commendable academic results from a reputable university and called to the Malaysian Bar.
• Minimum 1 year of Post-Qualified Experience in either a law firm or corporate setting.
• Prior litigation experience is required.
• Proficient in written and spoken English, Malay, and Mandarin.
• Mandarin proficiency is essential for reviewing Chinese regulations and communicating with local stakeholders.
• Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to analyze and apply statutes and regulations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem-solving skills with sound judgment in balancing business goals and compliance needs.
• Preferably Chinese female.
