Job Description

Responsibilities:

1. Required to handle all legal issues including advisory, drafting and driving solutions within legal parameters for matters handled by Group Legal CFS particularly to work with the various stakeholders to meet Maybank Group's M25+ objectives, aspirations and goals;

2. The candidate must demonstrate a strong legal and analytical skills and be able to independently handle all legal matters/ issues both as a in-house legal counsel and as the legal representative/ member for projects and initiatives undertaken by Maybank Group including and in particular to meet the Maybank Group's M25+ objectives with other stakeholders across the Maybank Group and external parties;

3. Required to undertake fact finding and having the ability to understand and identify internal stakeholder's needs and pain points on legal matters/ issues and offer innovative, effective, swift and workable solutions within legal parameters to address difficulties and pain points of stakeholders;

4. Having the availability to adopt and inculcate Agile ways of working and be the change agent in driving the Agile governance for Maybank Group, within legal parameters.

5. Ability to work with and being embedded into a team within Group Legal- CFS to advise and deliver the outcome committed by the Head of Group Legal- CFS & Corporate Functions and M25+ Chapter Lead on legal requirements;

6. Drive the adoption of enhanced governance best practices to achieve speed to market in respect of products and services offered by Maybank Group, CFS

7. Manage the risk and regulatory requirements for all operations, products and services offered by Maybank Group, CFS;

8. Involved in the co-creation of the structuring of the solution together with the squad/initiative with various business and support stakeholders within Maybank Group to the extent that it is within the law.

9. Lead the Agile ways of working and be the change agent in driving the Agile governance for Maybank Group

10. Undertake the design (incl. continuous effort to understand internal stakeholder's needs and pain points), validate, review of the customer's journey.

11. Conduct training and support M25+ office on the technical requirements

12. Continue to be the change agent and mentor the team in driving the Agile Governance for Maybank group post M25+

13. Represent Maybank to be the industry leader in AGILE governance

14. Be at the forefront with the regulator for their support to drive new ways of governance

Requirements:

1. Experience is legal practice relating banking finance, corporate and regulatory matters including handling drafting vetting and advisory on financing ( i.e corporate, SME, retail, syndication, cross border financing; structured financing, structured products, corporate matters, debt restructuring, debt capital market, amongst others);

2. Preferable to have worked in house in Banking and finance legal departments after having had practicing experience;

3. Qualification : Degree in Law and called to the Bar as Advocate & Solicitor;

4. PQE : Eight (8) to ten (10) years of experience in a law firm or in house in banking and finance;

5. Strong understanding of regulatory and internal compliance/controls in Malaysia;

6. Self-motivated with strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;

7. Possess strong analytical and problem solving skills;

8. Ability to perform job under pressure in meeting tight deadlines, independent and a good team player.
