MANAGER (LEGAL), PENGERANG BIOREFINERY SDN. BHD. (PBSB)
We are seeking a dynamic Legal Manager to join our team in Kuala Lumpur. Reporting to the Head of Legal, the Legal Manager will act as the legal advisor for the company, overseeing end-to-end legal support across a broad range of matters, including commercial contracts drafting, EPCC/project delivery, disputes resolution, and policy and training. This role ensures legally sound decisions, risk-managed contracts, compliant operations and effective dispute resolutions to support safe, reliable and efficient project delivery and operations.
Ideal candidate should also posses strong understanding of corporate governance frameworks and regulatory compliance obligations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts.
- Ensure compliance with anti-bribery/anti-corruption, sanctions/export controls, competition law, and data protection and other critical legal areas impacting the business.
- Advise on change orders/variations, extension of time and other project issues.
- Manage performance bonds, parent company guarantees, interface and operational agreements, with focus on multi-package coordination.
- Manage operational compliance legal registers and advise on regulatory changes and business impacts.
- Provide day-to-day corporate secretarial support.
- Partner with company leadership and cross-functional teams (operations, projects, procurement, HR, HSSE, finance) for aligned outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Law degree (LLB or equivalent).
- 8-12 years of post-qualification experience as practising lawyer and/or in-house legal department.
- Preferably holds a valid company secretary licence, though not essential.
- Strong exposure to refinery/oil & gas/petrochemicals/infrastructure.
- Experience in EPCC/EPC contracts, procurement contracting, governance and dispute resolution.
