Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated COBOL Programmer to support and enhance the LifeAsia System. The ideal candidate will work closely with IT, business teams, and vendors to deliver robust solutions aligned with project and operational goals.
Work Location: Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.
12-month contract (renewable or potential absorption into permanent role).
Key Responsibilities:
- To be a system analyst and a programmer to support/enhance the LifeAsia System.
- Able to work effectively with the internal IT & Business teams, squads, as well as vendors (where applicable) to meet various initiatives, projects, change requests, and production defect timelines.
- Responsible for updates on system and project-related activities.
- Have hands-on experience with product table setups and corresponding knowledge of product lifecycle/features in LifeAsia.
- Able to understand the modules and differences between all types of life insurance products.
- Understand functionalities and technical aspects of the system; analyze technical impact on interfacing systems.
- Provide system design solutions, develop system design and technical documents, perform programming and code reviews.
- Provide maintenance, enhancement, and production support for the core system.
- Ensure that all application development is performed in line with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and IT governance requirements.
- Adhere to SMART/400 coding and design standards to maintain consistency and quality.
Qualifications:
- Degree in IT or related areas.
- Minimum 8 to 10 years of working experience in application development, preferably within the life insurance domain.
- Knowledge of AS400, SMART/400, QUERY400, COBOL, Control Language, SQL development, and Robot technology.
- Strong analytical ability and excellent communication skills.
