The Job

We are looking for Local Purchasing Manager (Indirect Materials) to further strengthen our Procurement department.

As a Local Purchasing Manager (Indirect Materials), you will be responsible for managing local purchasing demands according to corporate procedures in order to ensure OTIF (on time and in full) supply at an optimal price, (internal) cost and quality.

Some of your main duties & responsibilities:

  • Knows the health, safety, environment & housekeeping procedures and rules, operates in accordance with them, alerts risks, participates to risk analyses, takes corrective actions regarding the own work environment and stimulates safe behaviour of colleagues and third parties
  • Supports Category Managers with implementing corporate contracts locally and, in collaboration with Category Managers, identifies and executes local and/or regional purchasing projects
  • Acts locally as the extension of the Category Managers, ensures all purchasing operations are taken care of, verifies invoices regarding price agreements, approves invoices and analyses and reports realized savings
  • Based on short‑term needs and when not covered by corporate contracts, identifies potential suppliers and negotiates local agreements or spot purchases for specific raw and non‑raw materials and services
  • Managers, identifies and executes local and/or regional purchasing projects
  • Manage the full spectrum of purchasing activities, including specification review, supplier sourcing, price benchmarking, negotiation, contracting, and delivery follow‑up
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with internal policies, safety standards, and industry regulations relevant
  • Collaborate to identify and execute local or regional purchasing projects related to raw materials, chemicals, packaging, maintenance, and service suppliers
  • Maintain accurate procurement documentation, including purchase orders, call-offs, supplier information, delivery documents, certificates of analysis, and complaint records
  • Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and contract conditions to secure cost competitiveness and supply continuity
  • Manage spot purchases and local contracts to support urgent plant requirements
  • Leads the tendering process for local procurement needs, where you coordinate and manage local tenders to ensure transparency, compliance, and competitive sourcing
  • Work closely with Supply Chain, Production, Quality, Engineering, and SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) teams to understand local requirements and translate them into accurate specifications and term sheets
  • Ensure supplier quality compliance for materials, including COAs, delivery documentation, and complaint handling
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, logistics partners, and service providers & etc
  • Conduct periodic supplier performance reviews, monitoring and reporting non‑conformities claims, and drive corrective actions
  • Analyze and report savings, cost improvements, and purchasing KPIs to management
  • Translate corporate procurement procedures into local working instructions and ensure plant-wide compliance

Who are we looking for

You'll succeed if:

  • You have possess at least Diploma or Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree in logistic / transportation or equivalent
  • You have at least 6-8 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain roles, and basic understanding manufacturing processes and technologies will be added advantage
  • You have experience & Knowledge with SAP will be added value
  • You have good communication and written skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia
  • Strong communication, negotiation, analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to cost of managing materials, material price variance
  • Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and e-mail skills required
  • You have good planning, organizing and problem solving skills
  • You are willing to work at Pulau Indah, Port Klang
