Job Summary
We are seeking a competent and responsible
Shift LV Chargeman to support 24/7 facilities operations in a high-demand electronic manufacturing environment. The role is responsible for the safe operation, monitoring, and maintenance of
low voltage (LV) electrical systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining uninterrupted power supply to production and critical systems.
The Chargeman will act as the
electrical competent person during shift, supporting the Facilities Operation Engineer and ensuring all electrical activities are executed safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Electrical System Operation & Monitoring
- Operate and monitor LV electrical systems, including switchboards, distribution panels, UPS, and backup power systems.
- Ensure stable and continuous power supply to manufacturing and facility systems.
- Perform routine checks, readings, and system inspections during shift.
- Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment and systems.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults and perform immediate corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Support shutdown, energization, and switching activities in accordance with procedures.
- Competent Person Responsibility
- Act as the appointed Chargeman in compliance with Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) requirements.
- Ensure all electrical work is carried out in accordance with safety regulations and statutory requirements.
- Issue and control electrical Permit-to-Work (PTW) and ensure safe isolation/LOTO practices.
- Shift Operations Support
- Partner with Shift M&E Technician to support building operational activities.
- Escalate complex electrical issues to the competent engineer or shift supervisor
- Liaise with vendors for LV system maintenance and emergency support.
- Participate in shift handover and ensure accurate reporting of system status.
- Emergency Response & Troubleshooting
- Respond to electrical faults, alarms, and emergency situations promptly.
- Support recovery actions during power failure or system abnormalities.
- Assist in 1st level troubleshooting and root cause analysis to implementation of corrective actions.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain shift logs, inspection records, and maintenance reports.
- Report system faults, maintenance activities, and incidents promptly.
- Vendor & Contractor Coordination
- Supervise and coordinate contractors performing electrical maintenance or project work.
- Ensure all vendor activities comply with safety procedures and site requirements.
- Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with Malaysian regulations (Suruhanjaya Tenaga, DOSH, safety standards).
- Adhere to EHS policies, permit-to-work system, and electrical safety procedures.
- Maintain proper documentation, logs, and statutory records.
Requirements
- Possess valid Chargeman Certificate (AO / A1 / A4) issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST).
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in electrical facilities or industrial environment.
- Hands-on experience in LV systems, switchboards, UPS, and electrical distribution.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety practices, LOTO, and PTW systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues independently during shift.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Willing to work on shift rotation and emergency/on-call support.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in electronic manufacturing or high-tech facilities environment.
- Exposure to Data Center electrical systems is an added advantage.
- Basic knowledge of BMS/EMS systems.
- Experience working in 24/7 critical operations environment.
