Machine Learning Engineer

We are seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to design, finetune, and implement AI models that power compliance intelligence for our RegTech Client in South East Asia. This is a hands-on role where your work will directly impact how compliance officers, senior management, and staff manage their regulatory obligations.

Key Responsibilities

• Model Development
• Design, train, and deploy ML models for NLP, semantic search, information extraction, document classification, and risk scoring.
• Develop solutions for OCR and structured data extraction from regulatory texts and compliance documents.
• AI-Powered Compliance Assistance
• Build and optimize LLM-powered Q&A systems to provide accurate, context-aware regulatory guidance.
• Integrate RAG pipelines with regulatory datasets.
• Data Engineering & Pipelines
• Develop data ingestion and preprocessing pipelines for regulatory documents, customer policies, and compliance workflows.
• Implement scalable APIs and ML services within the architecture.
• Collaboration
• Work closely with product and compliance teams to translate regulatory requirements into ML features.
• Partner with software engineers to integrate models into production systems.
• Optimization & Monitoring
• Monitor model performance, retrain and fine-tune as needed.
• Ensure explainability, transparency, and responsible AI practices in compliance-sensitive use cases.

Requirements

• Education/Experience: Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, or related field; 3+ years of experience in applied ML/AI engineering.
• Technical Skills:
• Experience with building RAG pipelines, LLM fine-tuning, or prompt engineering.
• Strong in Python, ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, LangChain).
• Experience with NLP (transformers, embeddings, semantic search, information extraction).
• Familiarity with OCR, entity recognition, and knowledge graph construction a plus.
• Good knowledge of APIs, cloud deployment (Azure/AWS/GCP), and MLOps practices.
• Nice-to-Have:
• Experience working with financial regulations, compliance, or RegTech datasets.
• Exposure to secure, enterprise SaaS environments.
• Mindset: Problem-solver, detail-oriented, collaborative, and excited to work in a high-growth startup environment.
