Role Description This full-time, on-site Maintenance Engineer role is based at FY Group's facility in Ipoh. The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, and monitoring maintenance activities for production equipment and utilities to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime. Day-to-day tasks include diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing corrective and preventive maintenance, coordinating repair work with internal teams and external vendors, and maintaining accurate documentation of maintenance activities. The role also involves supporting continuous improvement initiatives, complying with safety and regulatory standards, and collaborating with operations and production teams to optimize equipment reliability and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

1. Equipment Maintenance & Reliability

· Plan, schedule, and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.

· Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical/electronic, pneumatic, or hydraulic faults promptly.

· Monitor and improve equipment reliability, availability, and performance.

· Maintain accurate maintenance records .

2. Continuous Improvement

· Identify and eliminate root causes of equipment failures.

· Initiate improvement projects to increase OEE, reduce downtime, and optimize maintenance cost.

· Support automation, energy efficiency, and cost reduction initiatives.

3. Project & Technical Support

· Participate in equipment installation, testing, commissioning, and qualification.

· Provide technical support for process and equipment upgrades.

· Liaise with vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance or modification work.

4. Compliance, Safety & Documentation

· Ensure all maintenance works comply with safety, food safety, GMP, and environmental standards.

· Develop and enforce maintenance SOPs, JSA (Job Safety Analysis), and LOTO procedures.

· Support audits (internal, external, regulatory) and ensure documentation readiness.

5. Communication & Collaboration

· Work closely with Production, Quality, and Facilities teams to align maintenance priorities.

· Provide technical guidance to maintenance technicians and operators.

· Report equipment performance and maintenance KPIs to management.

6. Training

· Plan, develop, and prepare technical training modules and competency development programs.

· Conduct training sessions, assess competency, and continuously improve team knowledge and technical skills.

· Train Production Technicians with the objective of enhancing their technical competency and developing them into skilled, independent technicians capable of supporting production and basic maintenance activities.

7. Others

· Execute other tasks as assigned by the superiors.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong skills in Equipment Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair for industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • Candidates should possess solid Maintenance Engineering skills, including troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and maintenance planning.
  • Candidates should possess experience in Preventive Maintenance programs and reliability-focused maintenance practices.
  • Candidates should possess Electrical Maintenance skills, including basic electrical diagnostics and familiarity with motors, control panels, and wiring safety standards.
  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Maintenance Engineering (or related field) is preferred.
  • Experience in food processing, FMCG, or similar industrial settings will be an advantage.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and equipment manuals, with good problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, adherence to regulatory and quality standards, and readiness to work on-site in Ipoh on rotating or extended shifts when required.
