Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

Lead, plan and manage EPIC operational activities by (i) ensuring compliance to accreditation requirements and ISO standards such as 17025, 45001 and 9001, (ii) ensuring compliance to IT and HSE regulations such as OSHA and FMA 1967, (iii) maintaining assets in good working order, (iv) supervising engineering design and prototyping fabrication services, and (v) supervising high performance computational services to ensure effective and efficient delivery in support of teaching, learning, research and innovation activities at the university.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

EPIC MANAGEMENT
Analyse and execute EPIC governance by (i) managing ISO activities per ISO17025, 45001 and 9001 where relevant and applicable (ii) enforcing IT, HSE regulations such as OSHA and FMA 1967 and other governance policies and requirements such as MYRA and SETARA, (iii) implementing Service Level Agreements with stakeholders, and (iv) overseeing internal and external compliance audits to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services in support of teaching, learning, research and innovation at the university.


DESIGN, FABRICATION AND PROTOTYPING SERVICES
Lead and manage design, fabrication, and prototyping services by (i) supervising resources to fulfil EPIC business requirement ensuring service availability to stakeholder, (ii) providing consultancy and expert opinions in design, fabrication and prototyping related to mechanical, electrical, electronics, control and other engineering fields, (iii) endorsing design and analysis conforming to project requirement, and (iv) authorising back charging to clients and stakeholders to ensure an effective & efficient development and delivery of EPIC services in support of teaching, learning, research and innovation at the university.

EPIC ASSET & MATERIALS MANAGEMENT
Lead and manage EPIC equipment and consumables by (i) implementing asset maintenance inclusive of calibration and certification, (ii) ensuring the acquisition of equipment conforms to prudent financial controls, and (iii) managing consumables via ULab inclusive of endorsing purchases for replenishment to ensure asset reliability and material availability in support of teaching, learning, research and innovation.


SECTION ADMINISTRATION
Manage the administration for the section by executing all administrative tasks such as budget and leave management, staff training and performance evaluation, and mentoring and guiding other executives in daily tasks to ensure smooth and continued operations of the department.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Recognised Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Product Design or relevant field.
  • More than 8 years of experience in the field of Mechanical Engineering, Research & Development, Innovation or Product Development.
  • Experienced in CAD tools (CATIA, Siemens NX) and CAE tools (Ansys, Nastran, ADAMS) is an added advantage.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Good analytical abilities.
