Role Overview
As a Manager in the Performance Management team within Group Finance, you will play a key role in tracking, analyzing and driving the bank's performance. Your role has two main focus areas: you will deliver core management reporting packs (such as monthly and quarterly financial reports) for the Board and Management Committee and you will lead our competitor benchmarking to see how we stack up against other banks. By connecting external market trends with internal customer and financial data, you will provide the insights needed to shape the bank's strategy.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Customer Analytics, Management Reporting and Analysis
Executive Reporting & Variance Analysis: Prepare clear, high-quality financial performance reports for the Board and Management Committee, providing concise commentary to explain the why behind the financial results.
Profitability Tracking & Margin Analysis: Deep dive into the bank's revenue streams, interest margins, and cost structures to monitor overall profitability, identifying key drivers of profit growth or erosion for senior management.
Group-Level Customer Insights & Balance Sheet Impact: Synthesize complex data across various business lines to deliver high-level, panoramic insights on the bank's total customer base for the Management Committee.
Balance Sheet Growth Tracking: Evaluate Group-wide New-to-Bank (NTB) acquisition and cross-selling depth, connecting customer portfolio dynamics (e.g., stickiness, attrition) directly to the bank's financial performance.
Agile Ad-Hoc Analytics: Support the performance management team on critical, high-priority financial analysis and ad-hoc presentation requests from the CFO and senior leadership.
2. Peer Benchmarking & Market Positioning
Drive Competitive Intelligence: Lead and oversee the benchmarking process, transforming raw data into high-impact insights for the Management Committee.
Rapid-Response Reporting: Champion the swift delivery of competitor financial performance analysis immediately following quarterly earnings announcements.
Contextual Analysis: Infuse internal financial reports with external benchmarking data, providing leadership with a holistic view of how the bank is performing relative to the wider market.
Own the Data Ecosystem: Maintain a robust, up-to-date repository of competitor financial databases, analyst presentations, and Bank Negara Malaysia statistics to fuel strategic decks.
Deliver Peer Analytics: Produce high-quality, timely analysis packs comparing the Top 5 Banks (MBB, CIMB, PBB, RHB, & AMMB) against HLBG to pinpoint market opportunities, flag competitive threats, and shape executive decision-making.
3. Continuous Innovation & AI Adoption: Champion the integration of generative AI and modern visualization tools across both reporting streams to automate workflows, elevate data storytelling, and transform complex peer and internal metrics into crisp visual narratives
