The Manager, Land Acquisition is responsible for leading the identification, evaluation and acquisition of strategic land opportunities required to support Gentari's renewable energy growth ambitions. The role drives land sourcing initiatives, stakeholder engagement, commercial negotiations and transaction execution, while overseeing due diligence activities to secure high-quality development opportunities and advance project delivery across the renewable energy portfolio.

Responsibilities

Land Strategy & Opportunity Development

  • Lead and execute land sourcing strategies to identify, evaluate and secure suitable land opportunities for Utility Scale Solar, BESS, Data Centre and other renewable energy developments;
  • Serve as the focal point for strategic and priority projects, including Data Centre Warm-Site initiatives and other business growth opportunities;
  • Manage and prioritise the land acquisition pipeline to support RE Malaysia's development targets and long-term growth objectives.

Stakeholder & Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with landowners, State Development Corporations (SDCs), government agencies, developers, real estate agents and other key market participants to facilitate project development and transaction execution;
  • Lead stakeholder engagement efforts to drive alignment, resolve land-related challenges and create pathways for successful acquisition outcomes.

Commercial Negotiation & Transaction Execution

  • Lead commercial negotiations and deal structuring activities, including lease arrangements, option agreements, booking fees, exclusivity arrangements and other key commercial terms;
  • Drive end-to-end transaction execution from opportunity identification and evaluation through to agreement finalisation and handover to project development teams;
  • Provide commercial insight and recommendations to support investment decisions, risk management and acquisition priorities.

Due Diligence & Portfolio Management

  • Oversee land due diligence activities, including valuation exercises, land surveys, planning assessments, title reviews, access assessments, interconnection readiness evaluations and regulatory considerations;
  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely completion of due diligence activities and effective management of acquisition risks and project milestones;
  • Monitor acquisition progress, resource allocation and stakeholder requirements to ensure efficient delivery of land acquisition objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Real Estate, Property Management, Economy, Business, Engineering, Law, Surveying, Town Planning, Geography or related disciplines;
  • 8 - 12 years of relevant experience in real estate sectors such as land acquisition, property development, infrastructure, industrial development, or similar;
  • Proven track record in leading and closing complex land transactions, including lease arrangements, option agreements, land purchases and commercial negotiations;
  • Strong network and established relationships with landowners, developers, government agencies, state development corporations (SDCs), consultants and real estate market participants;
  • Sound understanding of land due diligence, including land title matters, valuation, planning requirements, surveying, development constraints and regulatory processes;
  • Experience managing multiple acquisition projects, stakeholders and transaction workstreams simultaneously from opportunity sourcing through execution;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia is mandatory. Proficiency in other main local languages such as Mandarin or Tamil will be an added advantage;
  • Willing and able to travel extensively across Malaysia for stakeholder engagements, negotiations and site inspections, with a valid driving license.
