JOB SUMMARY
Lead and manage end to end investment execution for private markets transactions, including deal origination, due diligence, and transaction closing, while cultivating relationships with relevant parties and strategic counterparties to build a robust pipeline, overseeing post investment portfolio management with a focus on performance monitoring, governance, and value enhancement, managing cross functional stakeholder engagement and delivering strategic recommendations to senior management and the Investment Committee (IC), as well as developing and mentoring team members to uphold strong performance standards and foster a high quality analytical culture.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead end-to-end investment execution for prospective investments, overseeing due diligence scoping and ensuring transactions align with approved investment mandates and strategic objectives.
- Oversee the development and review of financial models and valuations, ensuring analytical rigour by critically challenging assumptions, projections and third-party forecasts to support data-driven investment decisions.
- Lead the preparation and presentation of investment recommendation papers on prospective investments or corporate initiatives to senior management and the Investment Committee, ensuring comprehensive evaluation and clear recommendations.
- Lead the structuring of optimised participation terms, particularly for direct investments, ensuring compliance with ESG policies and Shariah requirements where applicable, and manage the negotiation of key commercial terms with counterparties.
- Manage the closing and signing of definitive documentation, coordinating with Legal, Compliance and Risk Management to ensure all approvals, controls and conditions precedent are satisfied in a timely manner.
- Lead comprehensive market and feasibility studies to assess investment viability, identifying sector dynamics, accounting complexities and risk factors relevant to investment decisions.
- Drive the identification and implementation of strategic value creation initiatives within portfolio companies, contributing to the annual business plan and ensuring alignment with the department's investment objectives.
- Lead post-investment monitoring activities, overseeing the team's engagement with portfolio companies and internal stakeholders to ensure timely reporting, governance compliance and performance optimisation.
- Develop and mentor team members by setting quality standards, guiding analytical work, providing structured feedback on financial modelling and investment analysis, and supporting their career development.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Pass in Bahasa Melayu, including the oral test in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or possess an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government
- Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government from any local or overseas higher learning institution
- Professional qualification such as CFA, CA, CPA, etc is an added advantage
- Minimum 10 years of relevant working experience in private equity, investment banking, infrastructure investing, merger & acquisition (M&A) in operating companies or corporate finance
- Strong track record in leading investment transactions from origination through to closing, including financial modelling, valuation, due diligence, deal structuring and negotiations
- Experience in managing direct investments, co-investments or fund-of-funds is preferred
- Domestic and regional (Southeast Asia / Asia Pacific) deal experience is an advantage
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven leadership ability with excellent communication and negotiation skills in managing both internal and external stakeholders
- Skilled in writing and presentations
- Ability to manage multipole workstreams and deliver under pressure
