About The Job

Support the organisation in the overall development, implementation and enhancement of risk management structures and capabilities in line with regulatory developments and best practices

  • Identify the risk-related gaps across business processes, business units, etc. and develop training materials to increase the level of awareness or suggest recommendations to close the gaps.
  • Conduct briefing sessions for the departments to train on ORM & Governance tools and methodologies.
  • Develop key risk metrics and propose trends / insights based on analytics.
  • Review current ORM & Governance processes and tools and independently propose enhancements to meet the board / regulatory expectations or to address any current gaps.
  • Develop annual ORM related reports (e.g., Outsourcing, RCSA Profile Report, etc.) with minimum supervision.
  • Review ORM related processes in ORM tools regularly, which includes raising the proposal for enhancement of functional specifications to ensure relevance of system.
  • Ensure alignment and adoption of policies and procedures to manage / mitigate the ORM & Governance related risks.
  • Coach junior team members.
  • Provide advisory to business units.
  • Takes accountability in considering business and regulatory compliance risks and takes appropriate steps to mitigate the risks.
  • Maintains awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and technologies in order to understand the risk and better safeguard the company.
  • Highlights any potential concerns /risks and proactively shares best risk management practices.

We are looking for people who

  • Have tertiary education in Business, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent professional qualifications.
  • Knowledge of risk management, insurance operations or financial services operations.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in audit, risk management or business operations in the insurance industry.
  • Key skills: Good interpersonal skills, Computer skills, Strong communication skills (written and oral)
  • Key knowledge: Operational Risk Management, Governance or Audit (Intermediate), Business Analytics and Reporting
  • Key competencies:

-Analyse implications of significant changes to the organisation, departments, and key processes.

-Analyse the design of business processes and recommend improvements to them.

-Identify risk management frameworks or processes of the organisation.

-Uphold ethical standards when performing duties and responsibilities.

-Identify governance processes.

-Identify control gaps, control inadequacies and internal controls established.

-Drive accurate reporting of risk matters; and translate and communicate updates on risk reports to stakeholders.

-Identify and assess risks through understanding the business and its environment.

-Review scope of risk management processes; identify and analyse risk events; and identify, evaluate and implement appropriate risk response activities.

-Hold self and team members accountable for delivering clear performance expectations and best experience for the customer in the right way.

-Anticipate customers needs and expectations and elicit feedback from customers to improve service; Build relationships with customers to create and sustain customer loyalty.

-Make decisions in a complex setting to achieve intended goals using a structured process and multiple sources of available information, bearing in mind risk and compliance considerations.

-Provide coaching to others to develop their skills and knowledge on their jobs to enhance performance.

-Understand own strengths and areas for development through active solicitation of constructive feedback, taking ownership and adjusting personal behaviours as needed.

-Challenge conventional thinking, steps out of one's comfort zone to develop and implement prototypes of innovative solutions, after careful deliberation of risk and compliance considerations.

-Facilitate work team activities, provide assistance and support needed by team members and promote ownership and commitment among team members to work goals to improve team performance.

  • Training courses on governance or outsourcing by The Institute of Internal Auditors, IERP.
  • High level of integrity, takes accountability of work and good attitude over teamwork.
  • Takes initiative to improve current state of things and adaptable to embrace new changes.
