Job Description

To lead Product Management department in the end-to-end management and timely launch of General Takaful products, ensuring full compliance with regulatory, Shariah, and internal control requirements. The role drives effective product governance to support sustainable business growth and operational excellence. Assist in the monitoring of the business processes and internal control system of the General Operations.

Assist in the administration of reporting of activities in General Operations and ensure compliance with internal rule, regulations, procedures and external requirements which are relevant to the Company.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Product Development and Documentation:

New Products

  • Conduct the materiality assessment and seek concurrence to HOD, Risk Management, Shariah, and Actuarial (Pricing) to confirm that these products are considered as material change, thus required to go through Product Development Committee (PDC) for approval.
  • Prepare the Product Risk Assessment (PRA) checklist to be submitted to Risk Management for them to finalize the assessment to be incorporated in the PDC slide.
  • Provide support to review and check the PDC slide prepared by Underwriter for PDC meeting.
  • Scheduled for PDC meeting for approval on the new products.
  • Notify Shariah department on the approved new product by PDC members to be presented to SAB for their approval and concurrently prepare the SAB paper and slide.
  • Send the SAB paper and slide to Shariah department for their review and engage with them in facilitating the reviewing process.
  • Scheduled the Product Implementation Committee (PIC) meeting for system and operation readiness by relevant parties.
  • Prepare the product documentation (Product Manual, Product Disclosure Sheet, Certificate Wording, Product Compliance Checklists, AML/CFT Checklist), send to internal reviewing parties for review and engage with them in facilitating the reviewing process.
  • Engage with Brand & Communication team on the preparation and reviewing process for marketing materials.

Cloned Products / Enhancement to the Existing Product:

  • Conduct the materiality assessment and seek concurrence to HOD, Product, Risk Management, Shariah, and Actuarial (Pricing) to confirm that these products are considered as non- material change, thus not required to go through Product Development Committee (PDC) for approval.
  • Notify the internal reviewing parties on the cloned / enhancement product that the documentation is not required to be reviewed based on the Product Development Framework requirement.

Ad-Hoc:

Update and revise product documentation for both English (ENG) and Bahasa Malaysia (BM) translations for general products based on requirements from relevant departments, regulatory bodies, or management. This includes:

  • Revising documentation to comply with BNM and MTA requirements, Service Tax updates, Wakalah Fee adjustments, and Shariah wording for most general products.
  • Ensuring accurate translation and alignment of various product documents, including Proposal Forms, Certificate Wordings, Product Disclosure Sheets, Product Manuals, and other relevant documents for both existing and new products.
  • Engaging with the Brand & Communications and IT teams to upload and replace product documentation on the corporate website, banca portal, internal and external systems.

Prepare the minutes of meeting (MOM) for PDC.

Education/Work Experience

Diploma and Degree qualified preferably in Takaful or /Insurance, Actuarial, Mathematics, Statistics or any other related Business Studies from local or overseas institution.

Knowledge

  1. Awareness and understanding of regulatory frameworks (MTA & BNM) governing Takaful operations and product development.
  2. Strong understanding of Takaful models and Shariah compliance principles in insurance.
  3. Understanding of new product requirements, ensuring clarity, transparency, and legal compliance.

Skills

  1. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and spoken Bahasa Malaysia and English).
  2. Ability to meet deadlines, manage stress and work pressure.
  3. Team player, proactive, creative, resourceful, analytical.
  4. Proficiency in basic personal computer usage.
  5. Integrity.
