ABOUT JOB:
The Chief Resident Engineer will act as the senior on-site representative for the Owner during the rehabilitation of a Hydropower Plant (4x100MW Francis units). The role includes full responsibility for engineering, construction supervision, coordination, and commissioning activities throughout the project duration.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Act as the overall leader of all on-site engineering and supervision activities for the hydropower rehabilitation works.
- Represent the Owner and Consultant on site, serving as the main technical and contractual interface with Contractors, OEMs, and the Power Plant Owner.
- Coordinate and manage Resident Mechanical, Electrical, and Commissioning Engineers to ensure integrated project execution.
- Monitor construction progress, identify risks and deviations, and implement corrective actions to maintain schedule and budget.
- Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, technical specifications, international standards, and HSE regulations.
- Supervise and validate testing, commissioning, and performance acceptance of turbine-generator units, transformers, and auxiliary systems.
- Lead site meetings, review contractor submissions, approve method statements, and provide technical recommendations to the Owner.
- Prepare regular progress, technical, and risk reports for the Project Management Team.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering
- More than 15 years of international experience in hydropower engineering and construction
- Experience as Project Manager or Chief Resident Engineer on at least one hydropower project larger than 100MW
- Strong experience in commissioning of large hydropower units
- Fluent English; Bahasa Malaysia is an advantage
- Experience in South East Asia and refurbishment projects is preferred.
