Job Purpose
Lead the technical management of rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines) in an oil and gas plant. Serve as the Subject Matter Expert and Technical Authority, providing guidance and approving standards, specifications, and engineering changes. Ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations while optimizing performance and maintaining asset integrity. Support and mentor engineering teams and drive continuous improvement
Key Accountabilities
1.Strategy and Plan
- Lead the technical development and implementation of medium- to long-term strategies for the mechanical rotating discipline, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Define performance targets and standards for rotating equipment, focusing on continuous, innovative, and cost-effective improvements in equipment reliability, plant performance, and energy management.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure optimal asset integrity and performance, maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient operations that maximize plant value creation.
2.Leadership and Management
- Lead and manage a team of engineers and technical specialists in the mechanical rotating discipline, ensuring alignment of their work with organizational goals and operational requirements.
- Provide mentoring and coaching to team members, enabling their technical and professional growth.
- Delegate responsibilities effectively to ensure that each team member contributes to the delivery of high-quality technical solutions.
- Facilitate technical knowledge sharing and collaboration within the team to build a cohesive and results driven group.
3.Process Safety Management
- Lead and oversee the implementation of process safety management initiatives for mechanical rotating equipment across the integrated refinery, cracker, and petrochemical plants.
- Coordinate and review activities related to equipment integrity, performance monitoring, and anomaly resolution.
- Provide proactive technical support and solutions to address deviations in operating conditions, ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of rotating equipment at the required capacity and specifications.
4.Peformance Optimization
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and project teams to identify and implement strategies that enhance the reliability and operational efficiency of rotating equipment.
- Lead efforts to analyze performance data, identify improvement opportunities, and develop actionable solutions.
- Ensure safe cost-effective production and high-quality output by maintaining optimal equipment integrity and performance.
Qualification & Experience
- Possess degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 20–25 years of experience in mechanical rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines) in a plant environment
- Strong experience in providing technical solutions and ensuring compliance with industry and safety standards
- Proven leadership in managing engineers and technical teams
- Hands-on experience in equipment integrity, reliability, and performance optimization
- Ability to mentor and develop engineering teams
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong problem-solving and technical decision-making ability
- Experience driving continuous improvement and adopting best practices
