Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Manager at the Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP). The Manager will be responsible for overseeing water treatment and supply operations, managing wastewater treatment processes, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations in Kapar.

1. Oversee Plant Operations

- Ensure that the wastewater treatment plant operates effectively and in compliance with environmental regulations.

- Monitor all treatment processes, including physical, biological, and chemical treatment phases, to maintain optimal plant performance.

2. Regulatory Compliance and Reporting

- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations, including permits and discharge limits.

- Prepare and submit regular compliance reports, performance data, and water quality analyses to regulatory agencies.

3. Team Leadership and Development

- Manage, train, and mentor plant staff, including operators and technicians, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

- Schedule shifts, assign tasks, and conduct performance evaluations for team members.

4. Process Optimization and Improvement

- Analyze plant data to identify opportunities for improving efficiency, reducing costs, and minimizing environmental impact.

- Implement and manage process control systems, such as SCADA, to enhance monitoring and optimize operations.

5. Budgeting and Resource Management

- Develop and manage the plant's operating budget, controlling expenses for chemicals, utilities, maintenance, and personnel.

- Oversee inventory and procurement of necessary supplies, chemicals, and equipment to ensure uninterrupted operations.

6. Equipment Maintenance and Upgrades

- Coordinate and oversee the maintenance, repair, and replacement of plant equipment and infrastructure.

- Work with engineering and maintenance teams to evaluate new technologies or upgrades that could improve plant performance and reliability.

7. Data Analysis and Reporting

- Collect, analyze, and interpret operational data, such as flow rates, pollutant loads, and chemical dosages.

-Use data insights to adjust treatment processes, optimize chemical usage, and meet performance targets.

8. Stakeholder and Community Relations

- Liaise with company leadership, regulatory bodies, and local stakeholders to communicate plant performance and address any concerns.

- Engage with the community and participate in environmental awareness initiatives, as needed.

9. Emergency and Crisis Management

- Develop and implement emergency response plans for potential incidents such as chemical spills, equipment failures, or extreme weather events.

- Act as the primary point of contact during emergency situations, coordinating response efforts and minimizing operational disruption.

Qualifications

A. Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in wastewater treatment or a similar industrial environment, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role
  • In-depth knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, regulations, and best practices, including familiarity with local and international environmental standards
  • Certified Competent Person with certification in WWTP Physical Chemical Process (PCP) CEPIETSO PCP and/or certified in WWTP Biological Process (BP) CEPIETSO BP
  • Knowledge of ISO14001 is essential and person holding position of committee member, auditor in ISO14001 will be desirable
  • Other environmental competencies will be an added advantage.

B. Technical and Professional Skills

- Strong understanding of treatment plant equipment, safety protocols, and compliance requirements

- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, with the ability to interpret technical data for process optimization

- Knowledge in SCADA systems and process automation is desirable

C. Leadership and Management Abilities

- Proven track record in leading and developing teams, ensuring alignment with company goals

- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills with a proactive approach to managing issues

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively under time constraints

D. Communication and Interpersonal Skills

- Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate with internal departments, external contractors, and regulatory bodies

- High level of discipline and integrity, setting a positive example for the team and promoting a safe and compliant workplace

E. Additional Requirements

- Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision

- Willingness to be on-call and respond to emergencies as needed
