As part of our regional expansion, we are looking for an experienced Team Leader or Managing Consultant based in Kuala Lumpur to lead and scale a specialty recruitment desk focused on either:
- HR & Corporate Functions recruitment, OR
- Software Engineering / Technology recruitment
This is a leadership role for someone who combines strong billing capability, hands-on recruitment expertise, and commercial leadership mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Desk Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of recruiters/sourcers to achieve team revenue and hiring targets
- Drive team productivity, delivery quality, and recruitment process excellence
- Build a disciplined, high-performance recruitment culture with strong accountability
- Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new recruiters
Business Development & Client Management
- Develop and grow strategic client relationships across Malaysia and the broader Southeast Asia market
- Identify new business opportunities and convert them into retained or contingent recruitment partnerships
- Act as a trusted talent advisor to clients within your specialization area
- Manage key accounts and ensure high client satisfaction and repeat business
Recruitment Delivery
- Personally handle senior or strategic mandates when required
- Drive end-to-end recruitment processes including sourcing, screening, stakeholder management, offer negotiation, and closing
- Build strong talent pipelines and maintain market intelligence within your specialization
Commercial & P&L Ownership
- Operate the desk with a strong business and P&L mindset
- Monitor team performance metrics including revenue, placements, productivity, and profitability
- Contribute to regional growth strategy and operational improvements
Requirements
- Proven experience in agency recruitment / executive search environment
- Prior experience leading a recruitment team or managing consultants
- Strong track record in business development and billings
- Experience recruiting within either:
- HR / Corporate Functions, OR
- Software Engineering / Technology domains
- Strong stakeholder management and client-facing communication skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset with strong ownership and commercial awareness
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and target-driven environment
- Fluent English communication skills
- Mandarin Chinese bilingual ability is highly preferred as you need to liaise with Chinese-speaking clients and candidates across the region
