This role is responsible for taking a leadership position within functional project teams, collaborating with stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle, and performing solution design, capacity modeling, validation, and manufacturing. The role provides essential feedback on compliance, and ensures product quality and risk mitigation. The role applies advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex business issues, offer expertise, drive innovation, and provides guidance across cross-organizational projects.
Responsibilities
Leads and/or provides expertise to functional project teams of other manufacturing engineers and internal and outsourced development and manufacturing partners responsible for all stages of the product lifecycle from new product introduction through end of lifecycle, including solution design, capacity modeling, validation, tooling, manufacturing.
Reviews and evaluates product designs and project activities for compliance with manufacturing guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to the team in case of deviation.
Leads the team in identifying problems and defects across manufacturing processes and outputs, and arriving at an appropriate resolution.
Performs overall tracking of various performance metrics of manufacturing processes and reports against the same for the management.
Expands relationships with internal and outsourced partners for product manufacturing and development.
Provides tangible feedback based on results to improve product quality and mitigate risk of product failure.
Provides domain-specific expertise and overall manufacturing engineering leadership and perspective to cross- organization projects, programs, and activities.
Drives innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities in the manufacturing engineering organization.
Contributes to other complex projects, and exercises independent judgment in resolving business issues and establishing policies.
Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members to set an example of manufacturing engineering design and development innovation and excellence.
Education & Experience Recommended
Four-year or Graduate Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
Typically has 7-10 years of work experience, preferably in engineering design and solutions, or a related field.
