Role Purpose:
This role is a critical senior engineering expert responsible for technical ownership, decision-making authority, and escalation leadership supporting customer request/feedback and high-mix production.
The position is essential to
- Ensure stable execution during aggressive volume ramp
- Maintain quality, compliance, and delivery performance
- Prevent single-point dependency risk following retirement transition
- Drive technical continuity across product transfer and sustaining operations
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Ownership & Product Stewardship: Serve as the primary technical owner for assigned product lines/modules supporting customer request. Own end-to-end manufacturing readiness in process capability, BOM accuracy and control, assembly and test robustness to ensure alignment across engineering, quality, and operations for sustained production performance
- Ramp Execution & High-mix Stabilization: Lead engineering readiness and execution for volume ramp in driving rapid resolution of yield, cycle time, and capacity constraints. Establish process controls to ensure repeatability and scalability/ Monitor key KPIs (yield, DPPM, cycle time, output) and take decisive corrective actions
- Escalation Leadership & Decision Authority: Act as first-line technical escalation owner for manufacturingand product issues. Make timely decisions under pressure to protect delivery commitments, product quality and customer satisfaction. Lead cross-functional war rooms during critical events
- Product Transfer & Change Management: Lead or guide NPI/product transfer activities including process qualification, line readiness and engineering validation. Ensure engineering changes are evaluated for production impact, quality risk assessment, and compliance requirements. Drive structured handover from development to mass production
- Risk Management & Compliance: Identify and mitigate risks across in product design-to-manufacturing interface (FMEA and Control Plan), supplier/process variability, and regulatory and customer compliance. Ensure adherence to customers standards and internal quality systems. Lead containment and corrective actions for major excursions
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Drive alignment across with planning, procurement, supplier engineering, quality / reliability, production / Operations, etc. act as the technical anchor bridging engineering and operations
- Capability Building & Knowledge Transfer: Mentor junior engineers to reduce long-term dependency on single experts. Institutionalize knowledge through proper documentation control, standard work instructions, training modules and continuity, and strengthen team technical depth to support future growth
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or equivalent
- Experience: 8–12+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering, product engineering or quality engineering with proven track record in high-mix, high-volume manufacturing, quality management, ISO/AS compliance, complex product assembly and test environments, experience supporting customer-critical programs strongly preferred
- Technical Competencies: Strong expertise in Manufacturing processes (assembly, integration, test), BOM structure, configuration control, and change management, Process capability (Cp/Cpk), yield improvement, and defect reduction
- Advanced skills in: Root cause analysis (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, DOE), Failure analysis and troubleshooting and Data-driven decision making
- Familiar with: Quality systems (ISO, customer-specific requirements) and Risk management methodologies (FMEA, control plans)
- Leadership & Behavioral Competencies: Strong decision-making capability under ambiguity and pressure, proven ability to lead technical escalations and drive closure, excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication skills, high ownership with strong accountability for business outcomes, ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority
- Critical Success Attributes (Specific to This Role): Ability to stabilize operations quickly during ramp phase, deep technical judgment to balance quality vs delivery risk, strong sense of urgency and execution discipline, experience in handling customer-critical escalations with tight timelines.
