Job Description

Marine Project Manager (LNG / Cryogenic Systems)

Global Marine Operations | International Travel

A global engineering organisation specialising in cryogenic systems and industrial gas technologies is seeking an experienced Marine Project Manager to lead complex service and dry-docking programmes for LNG carriers and gas vessels across an international fleet.

This role sits at the centre of global marine operations, coordinating vessel-based service activities involving cryogenic cargo systems, turbomachinery, compressors, expanders, and rotating equipment. The successful candidate will bridge shipboard operations, engineering teams, service execution, and international logistics to ensure critical systems are maintained and commissioned safely and efficiently.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically grounded maritime professional with experience in LNG vessel operations and cryogenic systems, who thrives in fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environments.

Key Responsibilities

LNG Vessel Service & Project Leadership

  • Coordinate vessel service activities including dry-docking, onboard repairs, upgrades, commissioning, and troubleshooting of cryogenic cargo systems.
  • Develop integrated execution plans for LNG carriers covering cargo pumps, compressors, vaporizers, expanders, and auxiliary rotating equipment.
  • Align ship crews, shipowners, ship managers, shipyards, engineers, and logistics teams to ensure seamless project delivery.

Turbomachinery & Rotating Equipment Coordination

  • Serve as the operational interface between vessel teams and engineering specialists.
  • Coordinate maintenance, overhaul, and performance optimisation of cryogenic and rotating equipment.
  • Ensure all technical work scopes follow OEM procedures, safety standards, and operational requirements.

Global Logistics & Resource Planning

  • Coordinate manpower, travel, spare parts, tooling, and specialist resources across global marine service hubs.
  • Manage critical logistics for LNG vessel projects to ensure timely delivery of parts and services across regions.

Stakeholder & Customer Engagement

  • Act as the primary coordination point for shipowners and ship managers during project planning and execution.
  • Lead communication regarding schedules, risks, and technical execution strategies.
  • Build strong relationships with maritime stakeholders and support long-term technical partnerships.

Project Planning & Risk Management

  • Develop detailed project schedules, timelines, and execution plans.
  • Identify risks relating to vessel schedules, dry-docking windows, technical scope, and resource availability.
  • Monitor project performance and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation including reports, execution plans, and activity logs.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards and maritime regulatory requirements.
  • Provide regular reporting to global marine operations leadership.

Candidate Profile

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Marine Operations, or Project Management.
  • Experience in LNG carrier operations, cryogenic cargo systems, turbomachinery, or rotating equipment.
  • Background working with shipowners, ship managers, shipyards, OEMs, or LNG fleet operations is highly desirable.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong understanding of LNG cargo systems, cryogenic equipment, and rotating machinery lifecycles.
  • Ability to translate technical scopes into structured project execution plans.
  • Experience managing multiple vessel projects simultaneously in time-sensitive environments.

Leadership & Execution

  • Excellent coordination and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organisational and planning ability.
  • Comfortable working in high-pressure, safety-critical maritime environments.

Work Environment

  • Based in Subang Jaya, Malaysia within a global marine operations environment.
  • Work across offices, shipyards, LNG terminals, and vessels.
  • International travel required (25% or more depending on project activity).
  • Flexible working hours to support global operations across time zones.
