Job Description-Steel M&T Specialist

Reports To: AR Iron & Steel M&T Head, SEA

Functional Report To:

1. Purpose

The position is responsible for providing technical services for refractory products and offering steel operation solutions within the region. The role requires close collaboration with the Sales team and customers to promote company products and ensure their proper application in line with quality and safety standards.

2. Dimensions of Position

Sales Revenue Contribution: 40 M GBP

Key Stakeholders: Sales team, steelmaking plants

Business Unit: Steel AR & FC

Geographical Coverage: SEA Melting, Refining, and Tundish applications

3. Duties & Responsibilities

a. Design & Product Selection

Work closely with sales team and customers to understand requirements.

Collaborate with the design team on product design, selection, and BOM.

Provide technical support for design, BOM, and equipment to prepare techno-commercial proposals.

b. Trial Support

Partner with R&D to select suitable products for site trials.

Provide on-site technical support for trial products.

Follow up, analyze, and generate trial reports.

c. Implementation & Improvement

Collect and analyze historical application and operation data to identify improvements.

Provide technical solutions and support to sales teams and customers.

Monitor performance and ensure follow-up on corrective actions.

d. Marketing & Competitor Activity

Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities and threats.

Work with the sales team to execute actions as per the annual marketing and strategic plan.

e. Problem Solving & Customer Support

Provide troubleshooting support for technical/product/application issues.

Handle customer complaints and resolve issues promptly.

f. Engineering Standards & Training

Develop engineering standards for product application/installation in Melting, Refining, and Tundish vessels.

Deliver training sessions on product applications/installation to sales teams, including performance tracking.

g. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

Work in accordance with Company HSE guidelines.

Perform risk assessments, safety audits, and ensure compliance with machine safety, SWI, and work permit systems.

4. Main Interactions

Internal

AR Iron & Steel M&T Head, SEA: Daily/weekly discuss issues, planning, implementation.

Account Managers: Daily/weekly updates on site requirements, planning, and issue resolution.

Site Team: Daily planning and implementation updates.

Sales Head: As required design, estimation, and service updates.

Design Engineering: As required BOQ, estimates, and new designs.

Commercial Manager / Product Managers: As required periodic coordination and guidance.

External

Customers: As required design, quality, application requests.

Refractory/Equipment Suppliers: As required technical requests and support.

5. Qualifications

a. Education

Bachelors degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Ceramics from a reputed Institute/University.

b. Experience

Hands-on experience with technical and application aspects of refractory products (preferred).

Exposure to working in steel plant operations (advantage).
