The Master of the FPSO holds overall responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel, its crew, and its production systems. This role ensures compliance with international maritime regulations, company policies, and industry best practices. The Master leads navigational operations, oversees safety and emergency procedures, and coordinates with offshore and onshore teams to optimize production and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Command the FPSO, ensuring safe navigation, mooring, and positioning at all times.
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, and integrity of all vessel systems, including production, storage, and offloading equipment.
- Ensure full compliance with international maritime conventions (SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, STCW) and company policies.
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety, environmental, and operational procedures onboard.
- Lead emergency response, including drills for fire, evacuation, oil spill, and medical incidents.
- Coordinate with offshore installation managers, production teams, and shore-based operations for operational efficiency and issue resolution.
- Manage the vessel's crew, including recruitment, training, performance management, and discipline.
- Monitor and control budgets, supplies, and fuel management for optimal operations.
- Maintain detailed records of vessel movements, incidents, and operational performance.
- Ensure the integrity of the FPSO mooring system, risers, and export systems.
- Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities, clients, and contractors.
Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years of working experience in operations for offshore o&g facilities & merchant shipping min.
- 2 years must be in o&g facilities and min. 3 years as an officer onboard crude oil tanker, with min.1 FPSO expereience as senior officer.
- Shall have min. Class 1 COC or equivalent (lower certificate is sujected to flag & coastal state approval).
- Must be safety conscious & proficient in daily planning & look-ahead activities & can effectively work to meet the company objectives & teamwork.
- Possess relevant competency in managing major incident event.
