Job Description

About the Role

  • Lead and support mechanical design for automated equipment and ATE systems, from concept design to manufacturing.
  • Drive R&D activities involving thermal management, burn-in systems, high-temperature test solutions, and test sockets. Provide technical guidance in precision mechanics, structural design, material selection, and thermal performance.
  • Contribute innovative and practical solutions to improve reliability, manufacturability, and testing capability of new machines.

Responsibilities

  • Work with R&D, Electrical, Software, and Marketing teams to define specifications for new automation machines, burn-in systems, X-ray equipment, and AOI systems.
  • Design machine modules such as thermal assemblies, cooling/heating systems, sockets/fixtures, machine frames, and precision motion elements.
  • Design and validate mechanical components for X-ray machines, including shielding structures, sample stages, and vibration-sensitive modules.
  • Support AOI machine development, including camera mounting structures, lighting systems, optical pathways, and stable mechanical platforms.
  • Conduct FEA/CFD simulations to evaluate thermal performance, structural strength, vibration, and airflow.
  • Build prototypes (mechanical enclosures, thermal modules, test jigs) and perform testing, measurement, and validation.
  • Participate in system integration, debugging, and engineering build of new machines.
  • Identify technical risks early and propose corrective actions or design improvements.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers (for senior/manager levels).
  • Collaborate with suppliers for fabrication, material selection, and component sourcing.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering or relevant field.

Required Skills

  • Experience in mechanical design for automation, equipment, or precision mechanisms.
  • Exposure or interest in any of the following areas is a strong advantage:
  • Thermal management (cooling/heating systems, heat transfer, airflow management)
  • Burn-in ovens, thermal chambers, high-temperature test setups
  • Test sockets, Burn-in boards, burn-in fixtures
  • CFD/FEA simulations (ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation, Inventor Nastran, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience in assembly, debugging, and problem-solving.
  • Familiar with 3D CAD tools (Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo, etc.).
  • Able to work independently and handle R&D tasks with minimal guidance (for senior levels).
  • Leadership and mentoring capability (for Section Head / Manager).
  • Knowledge of motors, actuators, pneumatics, and motion systems.
  • Understanding of material behaviour under thermal loads.
  • Ability to run experiments, collect data, and validate design performance.
  • Familiarity with electronics manufacturing or semiconductor testing environments.
