We Are Looking For
As the M&E Maintenance Engineer, you will report to the Operations Manager and support the Operations team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and optimal performance of the data center's mechanical infrastructure.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage critical technical maintenance activities associated with all Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) systems to reduce operational risk and ensure compliance with approved SOP, EOP and MOP.
- Develop, review and maintain SOP, EOP and MOP for all critical facility equipment and activities, including HVAC, electrical distribution, UPS, generators, fire protection, System, Network and plumbing systems.
- Provide technical support during the commissioning phase, including reviewing drawings, responding to RFIs, FAT/SAT participation, testing & commissioning, and addressing site issues.
- Coordinate with multiple disciplines to ensure projects are delivered within budget and schedule, while managing and overseeing mechanical and electrical teams, including: HVAC & Chiller Plant, Electrical systems (LV/MV, UPS, Generator, ATS, STS, PDU), BMS , Network, Fire protection and plumbing systems
- Support daily operations by working closely with the Shift / Operations team on incident investigation, root cause analysis (RCA), corrective actions, and preparation of interim and final incident reports for Management review.
- Monitor, identify and define critical parameters within BMS / DCIM / EMS systems, performing data analysis to improve reliability, resilience, efficiency and availability of M&E systems.
- Analyse and evaluate mechanical and electrical system performance, identify weaknesses or points of failure, and recommend improvements, upgrades or redundancy enhancements.
- Analyse energy consumption across M&E systems, identify optimisation opportunities, and support initiatives for energy efficiency, cost reduction and PUE improvement
- Support sustainability and certification initiatives such as Green Mark (Data Centre), ensuring compliance of the chiller plant, electrical systems and energy performance with certification requirements.
- Plan, coordinate and support major critical activities such as annual shutdowns, overhauls, load tests, black building simulations, emergency drills, tabletop exercises and dry runs involving M&E system failures.
- Ensure all M&E systems comply with relevant local codes, standards and statutory requirements, and keep abreast of changes in regulations, technologies and best practices.
- Evaluate, recommend and implement new technologies, systems or equipment to enhance system reliability, performance and lifecycle cost efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including facilities operations, electrical and mechanical engineers, vendors and consultants, to ensure seamless integration and operation of end-to-end data centre infrastructure.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years working experience in a data centre, mission-critical facility/ refinery/oil & gas or power infrastructure environment with more than 6 years of experience in M&E background.
- Hands-on knowledge of M&E systems, including HVAC/chiller plant, LV/MV electrical distribution, UPS, generators, fire protection and BMS/DCIM.
- Familiar with Microsoft Excel and Word, BMS, CMMS/DCIM, ERP systems and data analysis tools (e.g. Microsoft Power BI).
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with proven experience in problem solving and root cause analysis (RCA).
- Ability to clearly articulate and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, including Management and clients.
