Job Description

About Us

We're the world's leading provider of secure financial messaging services, headquartered in Belgium. We are the way the world moves value – across borders, through cities and overseas. No other organisation can address the scale, precision, pace and trust that this demands, and we're proud to support the global economy.

We're unique too. We were established to find a better way for the global financial community to move value – a reliable, safe and secure approach that the community can trust, completely. We're always striving to be better and are constantly evolving in an ever-changing landscape, without undermining that trust. Five decades on, our vibrant community reflects the complexity and diversity of the financial ecosystem. We innovate diligently, test exhaustively, then implement fast. In a connected and exciting era, our mission has never been more relevant. Swift now has a presence in 200+ countries and legal territories to serve a community of more than 12,000 banks and financial institutions.

Join us as a key member of our Corporate Communications team, leading high-impact media relations and strategic communications across the Asia-Pacific region. In this role, you will shape and amplify our narrative, support business priorities, and advise stakeholders on best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute media relations activities across the Asia-Pacific region, ensuring consistent alignment with global company and departmental objectives
  • Work to ensure broad understanding of the role Swift plays and our strategic priorities among key media stakeholders
  • Manage and mentor one direct report; work closely with colleagues as part of a small global team
  • Partner with colleagues across Corporate Affairs, the broader Corporate Office, and Swift more broadly to identify, devise and execute communications opportunities and maximise impact
  • Identify opportunities to use communications to support Swift's mission – with the media but also across other channels
  • Identify opportunities to increase understanding and advocacy of Swift's role in global finance and its innovation agenda
  • Manages workload and keeps others informed of key items and deliverables
  • Delivers work to agreed specifications of timeliness and quality and seeks to improve ways of doing things, sets and meets high standards for own work

What You Will Need

  • A university degree or equivalent experience
  • At least nine years experience in a corporate communications environment, with a media relations focus, and – ideally – in-house experience
  • Exceptional media management capabilities, skilled in writing and editing a range of materials including statements, articles, briefing materials and in actively managing media engagements
  • A strong news sense, with the ability to identify opportunities to build our narrative
  • Ability to translate complex information into engaging messaging that works with broad audiences
  • A strong eye for reputational risk and experience in managing reputational issues of varying severity
  • Ability to build and maintain media relationships
  • Experience in managing and working with agency partners
  • Experience in crisis communications
  • Experience advising subject matter experts on handling the media
  • Experience in finance or technology is preferred but is not essential
  • Team player with strong networking skills, building and maintaining trusted relationships with colleagues across the business, as well as media and other external stakeholders, and with senior stakeholders
  • The ability to navigate global organisations, and to work autonomously

If you're a strategic communicator with a strong media instinct and a passion for shaping impactful narratives, we'd love to hear from you.
