About the Role
We are seeking dedicated and impact-driven Freelance Career Mentors to support learners throughout their end-to-end career journey, from programme entry, through a 3-month On-the-Job Training (OJT), to successful job placement (full-time employment).
This is a highly learner-facing role focused on employability, job readiness, and early-career success. Each Career Mentor will be assigned to specific number of learners at any given time and will provide structured guidance, regular check-ins, and continuous pastoral care.
Career Mentors play a critical role in bridging learning and employment. They work closely with learners, employers, and the internal Career Success team to ensure learners are supported, prepared, and positioned for successful transition into the workforce.
This is a project-based freelance role suited for professionals seeking meaningful, flexible work with clear outcomes and impact.
Key Responsibilities
Learner Career Guidance & Coaching
- Guide learners through their full career transition journey from programme onboarding to post-OJT employment.
- Build strong rapport and maintain consistent, professional communication with assigned learners.
- Conduct structured weekly check-ins to monitor progress, motivation, and job readiness.
- Provide personalised career coaching, professional guidance, and motivation tailored to learner needs and backgrounds.
- Support learners in developing realistic career goals aligned with market demand and employer expectations.
Career Development & Job Readiness
- Support learners in identifying suitable job and OJT opportunities aligned with their skills, interests, and aspirations.
- Assist learners with job applications, interview preparation, and employer engagement.
- Review and provide constructive feedback on resumes, cover letters, and interview performance.
- Equip learners with job search strategies, interview readiness, workplace expectations, and early-career professional skills.
On-the-Job Training (OJT) Support & Site Visits
- Support learners throughout the 3-month OJT period to ensure successful workplace integration.
- Coordinate and conduct site visits (where required) to monitor learner performance and engagement.
- Escalate risks, performance issues, or wellbeing concerns to the Career Success team when required.
Monitoring, Pastoral Care & Documentation
- Provide full pastoral care for assigned learners, including wellbeing, engagement, and accountability.
- Monitor learner progress against programme milestones and commitments.
- Maintain accurate records of mentoring sessions, learner progress, challenges, and interventions.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to support learner growth and confidence.
- Refer learners requiring specialised coaching or counselling to the Career Success team.
Programme Support & Reporting
- Deliver mentoring activities according to predefined programme structures and timelines.
- Submit regular progress reports, mentoring logs, and feedback as required.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting on learner status, risks, and outcomes.
- Be available for consultation during working hours or mutually agreed time slots.

- Extensive industry experience with a strong understanding of current labour market trends, employer expectations, and in-demand skills.
- Actively keeps abreast of market and industry developments to provide relevant, practical, and up-to-date career guidance.
- Experience in career mentoring, coaching, recruitment, education, training, or workforce development is highly advantageous.
