We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented
MEP Cost Engineer / M&E QS to support the commercial and cost management functions for construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for M&E cost estimation, budget control, contract administration, progress claims, variation orders, and final accounts.
This role is ideal for candidates with strong Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) costing and contract administration experience within the construction industry.
Responsibilities
- Review quantity take-offs and costing calculations for tender submissions, quotations, and cost analysis purposes.
- Review and monitor project site budgets.
- Review Monthly Budget Summary Reports and ensure cost control measures are effectively implemented.
- Review and verify subcontractors progress claims and payment applications.
- Review progress claims submitted to clients/customers.
- Manage and review variation orders (VO) and final accounts with clients.
- Review and finalize variation orders and final accounts with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Liaise closely with project teams, consultants, and design teams on costing and commercial matters.
- Ensure compliance with Kajima Total Management Systems, company policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the superior from time to time.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related disciplines.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant working experience in M&E costing, commercial, contract administration, or cost engineering within the construction industry.
Hands-on experience in:
- BQ preparation and quantity take-off
- Cost estimation and tendering
- Budget monitoring and cost control
- Progress claims
- Variation orders (VO)
- Final account preparation and negotiation
- Subcontract administration
- Strong understanding of M&E systems and construction costs.
- Good negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and cost management practices.
