Role Description The Mixologist and Head Barista role is a full-time, on-site position based in Teluk Bahang, responsible for leading beverage service in the bar and café areas. This role involves crafting signature cocktails, preparing specialty coffees and non-alcoholic beverages, maintaining high presentation standards, and ensuring consistency in taste and quality. The Mixologist and Head Barista will oversee daily barista and bar operations, manage inventory, support ordering, and uphold hygiene and safety standards in line with IHG policies and local regulations. The role includes training and coaching team members on beverage preparation, menu knowledge, and guest service techniques, while actively engaging with guests, recommending beverages, and handling feedback to enhance the overall experience. Collaboration with Food & Beverage leadership to develop seasonal menus, promotions, and events is also a key part of this position.
Qualifications

  • Strong Customer Service and Communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently and professionally with guests and colleagues.
  • Solid Food & Beverage knowledge, including cocktails, coffee, tea, and non-alcoholic beverages, and awareness of responsible service practices.
  • Experience in Training and mentoring team members, including developing skills in beverage preparation and guest service.
  • Practical Culinary Skills related to beverage garnishes, basic food pairing, and bar snacks, with attention to quality and presentation.
  • Previous experience as a barista, bartender, mixologist, or in a similar hospitality role, ideally in a hotel or resort environment.
  • Knowledge of bar equipment, coffee machines, and POS systems, with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and to stand for extended periods.
  • Relevant certifications in food safety, responsible alcohol service, or barista skills are an advantage.
