Job Description

As a Modern Workplace Support Engineer (L2), you will provide operational support across the services that form the Wrth Group's global digital workplace. Your responsibilities include analyzing and resolving incidents, supporting identity and access topics, assisting with communication and collaboration services and contributing to stable endpoint and client operations.

You will also support Unified Communications (mail, phone, contact center) and workplace system components such as Active Directory, Entra ID and Azure basics. Close collaboration with third-level engineering teams across Core Systems, Unified Communications, Endpoint Management and Collaboration is a key part of this role.

This position requires broad technical understanding, a strong service mindset and a structured working style within a global support environment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver second-level support for core digital workplace services, primarily based on Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive), identity and access management, endpoint management, security solutions, and third-party tools.
  • Support identity and access topics in hybrid Active Directory and Entra ID environments.
  • Troubleshoot Unified Communications topics such as Exchange Online, Teams Phone, PBX/IP-PBX use cases and contact center components.
  • Assist with client and device management via Intune, including rollout, configuration, software distribution and packaging tasks.
  • Analyze endpoint and email security issues using Microsoft Defender.
  • Manage user, recipient and entity configurations in Exchange Online hybrid setups.
  • Collaborate with third-level teams in Core Systems, Unified Communications, Endpoint Management and Collaboration for complex issues, including security-related escalations.
  • Apply basic Azure knowledge to support troubleshooting and understand system dependencies.
  • Use network and infrastructure knowledge (DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls, ICMP, NTP, latency, bandwidth, jitter, packet loss) to identify and analyze dependencies.
  • Maintain documentation, operational procedures and knowledge articles to support smooth operations.

Qualifications

  • Completed training in computer science or a comparable qualification with several years of professional experience.
  • Experience supporting digital workplace or Microsoft 365 services such as Intune, Defender, Entra ID, Exchange or Teams Phone.
  • Understanding of hybrid identity, authentication flows and user lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with client configuration, Intune rollout and basic software packaging.
  • Basic knowledge of telephony concepts and email signature management solutions.
  • Understanding of hybrid topologies and Azure fundamentals (can be trained).
  • Good understanding of network fundamentals relevant for cloud-based workplace services.
  • Customer Orientation: ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels and deliver practical, value-driven support.
  • Strong service orientation, structured problem-solving and effective communication in global teams.
  • Fluent in English; German or Mandarin is an advantage.
