Position Overview
The Naturalist & Recreation Manager is responsible for delivering engaging nature-based and recreational experiences that showcase the unique environment of Mangala Estate Kuantan. The role focuses on introducing guests to the resort's natural surroundings, including birdlife, lakes, wetlands, flora, and sustainable practices, while also organizing and facilitating recreational activities that enhance the guest experience.
The Naturalist & Recreation Manager serves as a host, guide, and activity facilitator, creating memorable experiences that reflect Mangala's peaceful and nature-inspired identity.
Key Responsibilities
- Nature Experiences
- Conduct guided nature walks around the estate.
- Lead bird watching activities and share knowledge of common bird species found within the resort.
- Introduce guests to Mangala's lakes, wetlands, landscape, and sustainability initiatives.
- Share information about local plants, trees, and the natural environment of the estate.
- Assist in maintaining nature trails, activity areas, and guest experience points.
- Record and report notable bird sightings and environmental observations.
- Promote environmental awareness and responsible tourism practices.
- Recreation Activities
- Organize and conduct daily recreational activities for guests.
- Facilitate cycling tours, kayak activities, wellness sessions, children's activities, and family-friendly programs.
- Support team-building activities and corporate group events.
- Assist with festive events, seasonal programs, and special guest experiences.
- Ensure all activities are conducted safely and professionally.
- Prepare, inspect, and maintain recreational equipment before and after use.
- Guest Experience
- Welcome and engage guests participating in activities.
- Provide information about resort facilities and activity schedules.
- Create memorable and personalized guest experiences.
- Handle guest inquiries related to activities and the natural surroundings of the resort.
- Encourage guest participation in recreational and wellness programs.
- Safety & Compliance
- Conduct safety briefings before activities.
- Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and resort policies.
- Report accidents, hazards, and maintenance concerns immediately.
- Maintain first aid readiness during activities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Tourism, Hospitality, Recreation, Environmental Studies, or related field.
- Experience in hospitality, recreation, outdoor activities, eco-tourism, or guest engagement preferred.
- Knowledge of bird watching, nature guiding, or outdoor recreation is an advantage.
- First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
- Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
