Network Engineer

Role Summary We are seeking an experienced Network Support Engineer to provide L2 support for Cisco network infrastructure at our client's location in Penang. The engineer will be responsible for day-to-day operations, incident resolution, and preventive maintenance of the customer's Cisco environment, ensuring high availability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide on-site L2 support for Cisco routers, switches, and wireless infrastructure
• Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents within agreed SLAs; escalate complex issues to L3
• Perform configuration changes, firmware upgrades, and patching as per change management process
• Monitor network performance, capacity, and availability; identify and address recurring issues
• Maintain accurate documentation of network topology, configurations, and incident records
• Coordinate with vendors for hardware RMA and advanced troubleshooting
• Support network changes during planned maintenance windows, including after-hours work when required
• Liaise with the customer's IT team and end-users for issue resolution and status updates

Required Skills & Experience

• 4–6 years of hands-on experience in network support, with at least 2 years at L2 level
• Strong working knowledge of Cisco routing and switching (Catalyst, Nexus, ISR/ASR series)
• Proficiency in routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), VLANs, STP, and HSRP/VRRP
• Experience with Cisco wireless (WLC, AP) and basic firewall concepts (ASA/Firepower a plus)
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, or similar)
• Solid understanding of ITIL incident, change, and problem management
• CCNA mandatory; CCNP (Enterprise) preferred

Other Requirements

• Willingness to work on-site full-time at the customer location in Penang
• Good written and verbal communication in English; Bahasa Malaysia is an advantage
• Ability to participate in on-call rotation if required by the customer
