Role Overview:
The Network Engineer will be responsible for the configuration, implementation, maintenance, and reliable operation of QST's critical IT infrastructure. This includes managing servers, network devices, and related systems to ensure 24/7 high-performance operations across our local and remote environments. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, in-depth knowledge of network and system protocols, and a commitment to operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Network Administration (Dedicated Focus):
- Design, implement, and maintain the company's enterprise LAN/WAN infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewall, etc.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain firewall systems, ensuring rule sets are implemented according to approved Security Team requirements.
- Manage and maintain all remote access solutions, with mandatory expertise in VPN technologies such as IPsec, Wireguard, and OpenVPN.
- Demonstrates deep theoretical and practical understanding of network operations, focusing on Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols, topology, and ultra-low latency requirements.
- Configure and administer specialized network operating systems.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues to ensure maximum uptime and reliability.
Support & Documentation:
- Provide expert-level technical support (Tier 3) for server and network incidents including guidance to other team members.
- Develop and maintain detailed, high-quality documentation for all system configurations, network diagrams, and operational procedures.
Those who have System Administration experience are a big plus.
System Administration:
- Manage and maintain dedicated servers running Linux (specifically Oracle Linux).
- Perform installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of core OS components and system services.
- Manage and maintain all Windows desktop/workstation OS deployments, imaging, and patching.
- Oversee all Windows desktop/workstation OS deployments, including imaging, patching, and lifecycle maintenance.
- Conduct regular system monitoring, performance tuning and optimization for servers and endpoints.
Requirements:
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
- Must be flexible with work hours, and participate in an on-call rotation, including availability for after-hours and weekend work as needed.
- Minimum of 4+ years of dedicated, hands-on experience in Network engineering, preferably in a high-availability environment.
- System administration experience is a big plus.
- Demonstrated in-depth expertise and knowledge in administering, managing and troubleshooting Linux server environments and experience supporting enterprise Windows workstations.
- Demonstrated in-depth expertise and knowledge in networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing protocols, QoS) and practical experience configuring high-end network hardware.
- Working knowledge or direct experience with network operating systems such as PicOS is great bonus.
- Technical certification such as CCNA / CCNP or equivalent is a plus.
