Our client is a well-established organisation in Malaysia, responsible for managing large-scale, mission-critical digital infrastructure that supports a wide range of stakeholders nationwide. They are currently undergoing a significant technology transformation and are looking for strategic leaders to modernise their network and cloud environments.

 

About the Role

The Network Engineering Manager is a strategic leadership role responsible for defining the organisation's network technology roadmap, architecture design, and automation strategy across LAN, WAN, data centres, and cloud platforms. You will drive adoption of SD-WAN, SASE, zero-trust security, and infrastructure-as-code (Python/Ansible), while managing vendor relationships, budgets, and a team of engineers.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Define and implementthe overall network strategy and technology roadmap spanning LAN, WAN,data centres, cloud, and telecom systems.
  • Lead networkarchitecture design, feasibility studies, cost analysis, performancetuning, and capacity planning.
  • Drive modernisationinitiatives including SD-WAN, automation, zero-trust, and SASE adoption.
  • Guide short- andlong-term technology roadmaps, embedding industry best practices.
  • Conduct compliancegap assessments and implement remediation plans.
  • Oversee CAPEX/OPEXbudgets, cost optimisation, vendor assessments, and procurement cycles(RFI/RFP/RFQ).
  • Lead strategic Proofof Concept (PoC) initiatives, defining success criteria and ensuringdata-driven adoption decisions.
  • Manage, mentor, andgrow the network engineering team – setting performance goals,certifications, and career progression paths.
  • Partner with IT,security, cloud, and business units to align network capabilities withorganisational goals.
  • Drive adoption ofautomation tools (Ansible, Python, Terraform) and modern monitoringplatforms.
  • Stay current withemerging technologies and ensure resilient, future-ready solutions.


 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree inComputer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent – recognised bythe Malaysian government – with minimum CGPA of 3.00.
  • Pass in BahasaMelayu (including oral) at SPM level or equivalent government-recognisedqualification.
  • Minimum 10 years ofrelevant experience in network engineering/architecture acrossLAN/WAN/DC/cloud environments.
  • At least 2–5 yearsin management or senior leadership roles.
  • Proven track recordoverseeing large-scale, high-availability networks, including global ormulti-site operations.
  • Broad expertisein routing/switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VXLAN) and data centrearchitectures (spine-leaf).
  • Strongunderstanding of SD-WAN or similar advanced technologies.
  • Solid knowledgeof network security concepts – firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, zero-trustarchitecture, and compliance frameworks.
  • Familiarity with cloudnetworking (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid connectivity solutions.
  • Proficiency innetwork automation/orchestration tools – Python, Ansible, Terraform – plusmodern monitoring platforms (added advantage).
  • Proven ability todevelop and own network strategy, roadmap, capacity planning, andresilience initiatives.
  • Strong budget andvendor management experience – procurement cycles, asset lifecycles,CAPEX/OPEX.
  • Excellentstakeholder management across IT, security, cloud, and business units.
  • Effective writtenand verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Melayu.
  • Strongproblem-solving mindset – incident management, root cause analysis, SLAenforcement, disaster recovery planning.
  • Proficiency inperformance monitoring, capacity forecasting, and optimisation.
  • Willingness towork extended hours, including after-hours support when required.
  • Willing to travel
  • Professionalcertifications (Public Clouds, TOGAF, etc.) are an added advantage.
