Network Operations Engineer - IP & Core Networking

Location: Kuala Lumpur City Centre

Work Model: 5 days onsite

Hours: Standard office hours (no shift work or on-call)

We are partnering with a leading global technology services provider supporting one of the world's most advanced hyperscale data centre environments.

They are seeking Network Operations Engineers to support large-scale IP backbone and core network operations within a highly available production environment supporting globally distributed infrastructure

• Backbone / Core Networking

• Carrier & ISP Connectivity

• Remote Troubleshooting

• Production Network Operations

• Fibre & Cross-Connect Infrastructure

• Smart Hands / Remote Hands Coordination

Responsibilities:

• Monitor, support and troubleshoot IP backbone and core network infrastructure within live production environments

• Perform remote link-level troubleshooting across backbone, carrier and transport connectivity

• Coordinate with carriers, ISPs and onsite engineering teams during network incidents and outages

• Support Layer 1 troubleshooting activities including fibre, optics, cross-connects and physical connectivity validation

• Coordinate Smart Hands / Remote Hands activities across data centre and colocation environments

• Troubleshoot routing, interface and connectivity issues directly via CLI

• Perform interface checks, log analysis, routing validation and operational diagnostics during incidents

• Support incident response, escalation and operational recovery workflows across production network infrastructure

• Work directly with hardware vendors on TAC cases, diagnostics, troubleshooting workflows and RMA coordination

• Support operational activities across high-availability IP and transport network environments

• Assist with hardware replacements, connectivity restoration and operational change activities

• Work closely with internal engineering and operations teams to maintain network stability and service availability

Requirements:

• Experience supporting live data centre, colocation or backbone network environments

• Strong IP / Core networking operational troubleshooting experience

• Experience performing remote troubleshooting within production network environments

• Comfortable coordinating with Smart Hands, carriers, ISPs and onsite engineers during incidents

• Strong CLI troubleshooting capability across routing and switching environments

• Experience troubleshooting Layer 1 connectivity issues including fibre, optics and cross-connects

• Exposure to carrier, ISP, backbone or transport networking environments

• Experience working directly with hardware vendors for troubleshooting and operational support

• Understanding of operational processes within high-availability network environments

• Exposure to rack power redundancy, PDUs or critical infrastructure environments is beneficial
