Star Media Group is seeking dynamic and dedicated Journalists to join our Newsdesk team. You will be responsible for producing compelling, accurate news and feature stories for both digital and print platforms. This is a vital role for an articulate writer with a passion for uncovering and reporting impactful news under tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reporting & Writing: Research, investigate, and write high-quality, accurate news stories and features for the group's digital, print, and potential broadcast channels.
- Beat Coverage: Proactively cover assigned news beats, major events, and breaking news with speed, depth, and impartiality.
- Story Generation: Develop and pitch original, exclusive story ideas by cultivating strong industry contacts and utilizing comprehensive research skills.
- Fact-Checking & Interviews: Conduct thorough fact-checking, perform professional interviews, and adapt content efficiently for publication across multiple media platforms.
- Cross-Platform Collaboration: Collaborate with editorial teams on visual storytelling, including providing photography and, when necessary, performing on-camera reporting during critical assignments.
- Editorial Support: Fulfill additional editorial tasks and assignments as directed by the Chief News Editor.
Required Qualifications
- We welcome applications from candidates at all experience levels, from highly motivated fresh graduates to seasoned professionals (1-6+ years) in journalism, media, professional writing, or a related field.
- Strong command of English, Chinese, and Bahasa Malaysia, both written and spoken, is essential.
- Must possess own reliable transport for timely on-site reporting and assignments.
- Experience or comfort with on-camera reporting and video scripting is preferred.
