Kenangan Coffee Malaysia is growing fast, and we are hunting for a sharp, proactive OHSA Assistant Manager to champion safety, health, and asset protection across our entire retail store network. If you know how to adapt corporate safety protocols for a fast-paced retail crew and stay completely unfazed during a regulatory audit, you'll fit right in.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Must be a designated Safety and Health Officer (SHO) registered with DOSH and hold an active Green Book.
- At least 3 to 5 years of proven experience in occupational safety and health management, ideally with exposure to retail, F&B, hospitality, or multi-site operations.
- Practical knowledge of managing Physical Security protocols, lost prevention and vendor management.
- Deep familiarity with OSHA 1994, NADOPOD frameworks, and local industrial safety codes.
- Strong communication skills—someone who can influence, train, and protect retail teams to embrace a proactive safety culture.
- Willing to travel extensively across Malaysia as our stores expand across West & East Malaysia.
Job Role
- Regulatory Compliance & JKKP Reporting: Act as our registered OSH authority to ensure 100% compliance with the Malaysian OSHA 2022 amendments across all our coffee retail outlets. Thoroughly investigate, document, and report all workplace incidents, injuries, or near-misses promptly to DOSH (JKKP) in compliance with Section 29A.
- Coffee Retail HIRARC & Audits: Conduct customized HIRARC and routine safety audits tailored specifically to a high-volume coffee retail environment (safeguarding operations around high-temperature espresso machines, hot water systems, electrical setups, and ergonomic workspace layouts for our baristas).
- Asset Protection & Store Security: Oversee physical security frameworks for all our stores and office. This includes ensuring CCTV functionality, enforcing secure store opening/closing procedures, and establishing robust cash-handling security protocols to reduce inventory shrinkage and raw material wastage.
- Internal Investigations & Vendor Management: Partner closely with inventory and outlet operations teams to investigate unexplained stock variances, high-value raw material shortages, and cash register discrepancies.
- Fast-Paced Training & De-escalation: Design and execute agile safety onboarding and targeted training tailored for high-turnover operations service crews and part-time staff. Train front-facing floor staff on practical de-escalation protocols to handle unruly or aggressive customers safely.
- Safety Committee & Emergency Preparedness: Set up, coordinate, and lead internal OSH Committee meetings to drive a proactive safety culture. Establish and test our Emergency Response Plan (ERP) for retail contingencies (e.g., flash floods, power outages, mall-specific emergencies) and coordinate fire drills alongside BOMBA.
- Health & KKM Hygiene Compliance: Collaborate with the Operations team to maintain 100% compliance with Ministry of Health (KKM) mandates, including the rigorous management of Typhoid vaccination trackers for all store personnel.
