Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Operations & Maintenance Engineer with a minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) operations and maintenance. This role involves managing the day-to-day operations and maintenance of wastewater treatment systems, optimizing plant performance to ensure regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
The position requires participation in a rotating shift schedule, including night shift to ensure continuous plant operation. Candidates with industrial or municipal WTP/WWTP backgrounds are welcome to apply. WWTP certification is preferred but not compulsory.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily WWTP operations, including process monitoring, control adjustments, and optimization of treatment systems.
- Implement and manage preventive maintenance programs; conduct routine inspections and coordinate timely repairs.
- Monitor and analyze plant performance data to drive improvements in efficiency and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with environmental discharge regulations through regular sampling, lab testing, and process adjustments.
- Uphold all safety procedures and promote a strong EHS culture.
- Respond to emergencies and operational issues swiftly to minimize downtime and risk.
- Provide guidance, training, and technical support to operators and technicians.
- Assist with budgeting, cost tracking, and efficient resource management.
- Maintain accurate records using SAP for all maintenance and operational activities.
- Participate in shift rotations to ensure 24/7 plant operations coverage.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of WWTP operation and maintenance experience (industrial or municipal).
- Solid knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes, systems, and environmental compliance.
- Competency in instrumentation, control systems, and data-driven process optimization.
- Familiarity with SAP or other CMMS systems is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
- Willingness to work in rotating shifts
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Possession of WWTP competency certification such as CePIETSO-BP (Biological Process) is highly preferred.
- Experience in operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining scrubber systems / Air Pollution Control Systems (APCS) is highly preferred.
- Candidates holding relevant DOE competency certification related to APCS, scrubber systems, or environmental compliance will have an added advantage.
- Familiarity with both wastewater treatment and air emission control systems within an industrial manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
