Operations Manager
Job Summary
We are looking for an Operations Manager to oversee the overall daily operations of a luxury yacht within the Sarawak River. The role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient and profitable operations while maintaining high standards of customer service, regulatory compliance, crew management and yacht readiness.
The ideal candidate will have strong operational leadership skills, with the ability to manage people, coordinate technical and maintenance activities, support business development initiatives and contribute to the growth of the yacht as a sustainable tourism product.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate the yacht's daily operations to ensure smooth, safe and efficient service delivery.
- Ensure strict compliance with safety standards, operating procedures and emergency response requirements.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments and emergency drills for crew.
- Lead emergency response activities and ensure crew are properly trained and prepared.
- Oversee routine maintenance, servicing and technical inspections to ensure the yacht remains operational and in good condition.
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers and technical service providers for repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Monitor equipment performance and ensure technical issues are addressed promptly.
- Supervise, guide and evaluate yacht crew performance.
- Manage crew training, discipline, duty rosters and manpower planning.
- Support the development and commercialization of the yacht as a tourism and hospitality product.
- Work with management and relevant stakeholders on business planning, marketing initiatives and service improvement.
- Monitor operational expenses and identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency and revenue.
- Prepare regular operational, safety and maintenance reports for management.
- Maintain accurate operational records, logs and relevant documentation.
- Provide recommendations on operational improvements, business opportunities and service enhancements.
- Support other operational assignments and responsibilities as directed by management.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Tourism, Maritime Studies, Marine Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in operations management, hospitality, tourism, marine, yacht, vessel or related industries.
- Experience in yacht, vessel, marine tourism or hospitality operations will be an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of operational procedures, safety standards, risk management and compliance requirements.
- Experience in crew or manpower management, including scheduling, training and performance supervision.
- Good understanding of basic yacht/vessel maintenance and technical operations.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with crew, contractors, suppliers, management and external stakeholders.
- Commercially minded with an understanding of sales, marketing, customer experience and revenue generation.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple operational priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and operational reporting.
- Willing to work flexible hours, weekends and public holidays based on operational requirements.
- Must be willing to be based in Sarawak and work within the yacht's operational environment.
