Operations Manager
Job Description Summary
The Operations Manager is responsible for the daily execution, tactical leadership, and operational performance of their respective production cells. This role oversees Cell Leads and ensures that all production activities meet safety, quality, delivery, cost, and continuous improvement targets. The Operations Manager acts as a key driver of operational excellence, employee engagement, and cross-functional collaboration, supporting the company's overall production and customer commitments.
Key responsibilities
Production Management
- Lead, coordinate, and monitor day-to-day operations within assigned production cells to meet planned output, TAT, and revenue targets.
- Drive adherence to standard operating procedures, repair processes, and work instructions.
- Allocate manpower effectively across shifts and cells based on production priorities and customer demands.
- Ensure high levels of shopfloor discipline, accountability, and problem-solving culture.
People Leadership
- Manage, coach, and develop Cell Leads to optimize team performance.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, goal-setting, and individual development planning for direct reports.
- Foster a positive work environment that emphasizes teamwork, continuous learning, and employee engagement.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Promote a zero-defect culture by ensuring compliance to internal quality standards and aviation regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with Quality and Engineering teams to drive Root Cause Analysis (RCCA) and Corrective Action/Preventive Action closure.
- Ensure strict compliance with EHS standards and promote a safety-first culture.
Operational Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor and drive KPIs related to TAT, yield, productivity, rework rate, and employee efficiency.
- Lead daily management and tier meetings to track and escalate production issues.
- Identify bottlenecks, implement corrective actions, and lead continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Kaizen).
- Support operational readiness activities for relocation, including process requalification and layout optimization.
- Lead CORE event engagement and provide support for other CORE related events as appropriate
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, Planning, and Customer Service teams to resolve production constraints.
- Coordinate WIP burn-down strategies and ensure on-time delivery of customer components.
- Support relocation readiness by aligning manpower, process flow, and tooling deployment.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in operations management within an aerospace MRO or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of production planning, resource management, and aviation quality standards (FAA, EASA, CAAM).
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement principles.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with teams of 30-50 people or more.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP) and MS Office applications.
- Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
