About The Role

The Optician is responsible for performing sales, assisting customers in selecting eyewear, fitting frames, and dispensing lenses to meet their visual and aesthetic needs. They ensure accurate prescription fulfillment and provide exceptional customer service throughout the eyewear selection process. The Optician also performs basic repairs and adjustments to eyewear and maintains inventory control within the optical department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist customers in selecting frames and lenses, leveraging knowledge of products and preferences to provide personalized recommendations.
  • Utilize refraction techniques and equipment to assess customers visual needs and recommend appropriate lens options.
  • Take precise measurements and ensure proper fitting of frames to the customer's face.
  • Explain lens options, coatings, and enhancements available to customers based on their prescriptions and lifestyle requirements.
  • Coordinate with Optometrists to verify prescription accuracy and ensure proper lens selection.
  • Perform basic repairs and adjustments to eyewear
  • Educate customers on proper eyewear care, maintenance, and lens cleaning techniques.
  • Process eyewear orders, including lens fabrication and frame selection, and ensure timely delivery to customers.
  • Maintain accurate and organized inventory records, including tracking frame and lens stock levels.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new eyewear products, and advancements in lens technology.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving complaints, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with other optical team members to ensure seamless operations and efficient workflow.

Qualifications

  • Diploma of opticianry from an accredited institution.
  • Strong skills and proficiency in conducting eye examinations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to upholding high ethical standards and patient confidentiality.
  • Previous experience in retail optical stores is preferred.
