Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Oracle Database Solution Architect to lead the design, modernization, and optimization of our enterprise database infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for defining database architecture blueprints, overseeing complex migrations (including on-premises to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure / multicloud), and ensuring maximum performance, high availability, disaster recovery, and security across all Oracle environments.
You will act as the bridge between business requirements and technical execution, collaborating closely with enterprise architects, database administrators, software engineering teams, and key business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Strategy
- Design Enterprise Blueprints: Architect scalable, highly available, and secure Oracle database solutions aligning with business objectives and technical standards.
- Cloud & Hybrid Migration: Lead architectural planning and execution for database migrations from legacy/on-premise environments to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), AWS, or multicloud ecosystems.
- High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Design and validate robust HA/DR frameworks using Oracle RAC, Data Guard, Active Data Guard, and RMAN.
Performance & Optimization
- Performance Tuning: Conduct high-level system performance analyses, query optimizations, capacity planning, and resource utilization forecasting.
- Modernization & Refactoring: Evaluate legacy database structures and drive database refactoring, consolidation, and modern automation practices (CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code).
Governance, Security & Compliance
- Data Security: Design and implement data security policies including encryption (TDE), data masking, auditing, and role-based access control (RBAC).
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure database designs meet regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, PCI-DSS).
- Best Practices: Establish enterprise-wide database design patterns, documentation standards, and deployment guidelines.
Technical Leadership
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with application development, DevOps, and cloud infrastructure teams to align database design with software development lifecycles.
- Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Evaluate Oracle technology roadmaps, new features, and licensing options to optimize total cost of ownership (TCO).
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Experience:
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in Oracle Database Administration and Engineering (12c, 19c, 23ai).
- 4+ years in a Solution Architect or Principal Database Engineer role.
- Deep Oracle Expertise:
- Advanced mastery of Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Data Guard, RMAN, and Oracle Exadata.
- Strong expertise in SQL/PL-SQL optimization, indexing strategies, and database internals.
- Cloud Infrastructure:
- Proven experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), including Autonomous Database, Exadata Cloud Service (ExaCS), and OCI Networking/Security.
- Automation & Scripting: Proficiency in shell scripting, Python, and Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications:
- Oracle Certified Master (OCM) or Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
- Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect Professional
- Multicloud Experience: Hands-on experience integrating Oracle databases with AWS (RDS for Oracle), Azure, or GCP.
- Modern Data Frameworks: Familiarity with microservices architecture, containerized databases (Docker/Kubernetes), and event-driven architectures.
