Job Description – Oracle Database Administrator (DBA)
Position Title:
Oracle Database Administrator (DBA)
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage databases using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and other monitoring tools.
- Respond promptly to alerts and notifications to ensure optimal database performance and availability.
- Perform routine database maintenance activities including backups, patch management, database health checks, and integrity validation.
- Execute backup and recovery operations using Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN).
- Provide support for database-related user queries and basic troubleshooting activities.
- Identify and resolve database issues, escalating complex issues to L2/L3 support teams when required.
- Monitor database performance and carry out tuning activities including indexing and optimization.
- Implement and maintain database security measures such as user access controls and data encryption.
- Apply database patches, updates, and support version upgrade activities.
- Assist in capacity planning by analyzing database growth, storage usage, and performance metrics.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts for routine database administration tasks using SQL*Plus, PL/SQL, PowerShell, or Python.
- Support High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions including Oracle Data Guard.
- Perform database migration and data movement activities across environments while ensuring data consistency and integrity.
- Maintain detailed documentation related to database configurations, operational procedures, troubleshooting steps, and incident management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, developers, and stakeholders to ensure smooth database operations and alignment with business objectives.
Skills & Competencies
Essential Skills:
- Strong knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL query writing
- Hands-on experience with Azure IaaS and PaaS services
- Experience with AWS and Azure Cloud Database services
- Database performance monitoring and tuning
- Knowledge of Oracle OEM and RMAN
Preferred Skills:
- PowerShell scripting
- Automation using Python
- Experience with Oracle Data Guard
