Job Description

Purpose of the position

Delivery of comprehensive technical services to ensure continuous improvement of facilities and

packaging technology that meets Linde and industry best-in-class safety and quality standards, such

that Linde is sought after the supplier of choice for Industrial gases and chemicals.

Principal responsibilities

- The Technical Manager is to compile, evaluate and manage departmental annual planning for Engineering Audits, Projects and departmental training following to the requirements of the local and regional business unit.

- Provide cost effective engineering, maintenance, project design and implementation, and packaging technology services to PG&P sites to ensure that the business delivers on its product service offer.

- Is the custodian of the PG&P Land and Building, Plant and Equipment and he/she will manage the process that includes the annual planning. No capex is spent without a fully motivated and approved business case.

- Is the custodian of all local regulatory, engineering, and vehicle standards and codes.

- Delivers safety plan that endures country sites have the tools and facilities to carry out daily tasks in the safest manner to achieve zero injuries and accidents, including meeting all internal and external safety standards.

- Ensures packaging meets with Linde standards; investigating and reporting on malfunctioning packaging.

- Manage local technical services team and set annual objectives.

- Actively influences and coaches local technical service team members to ensure they clearly understand their specific roles in delivery of technical services and operations strategies and how their roles are related to other operations functions as well as other business units.

- Lead significant change initiatives to improve technical services efficiency in PG&P; support and cascade BOP initiatives to sites

- Carries out adequate risk assessment for all activities.

- Carries out plan to ensure all activities meet Linde safety, quality and environmental standards and national legislative requirements.

- Provide training, guidance and personal support where needed in accident and incident investigation, safe systems of work and other loss control activities.

- Ensures technical services activities are conducted within the budget.

- Resolves customer enquiries as and when arises

- Provide training material, instruction and courses for customers handling Linde products where required.

- Ensure placement of competent technical services employees on site

- Determine capability gaps within the technical services organization and develops processes to fill the gaps

- Succession planning for local technical service leadership roles

Key interfaces

- Working with BA PG&P to ensure that strategic initiatives/BOP programmes etc are prioritised and implemented across the country

- Working closely with the Regional Head of Operations and the in-country Manager to ensure effective implementation and adherence to the Operation Model

- Work closely with the Regional Technical Services Manager and Regional TOEs (Team of Experts) for effective transference of BOP to in-country

Required key skills (functional/technical)

- Good grasp of and ability to apply production management, supply chain and distribution concepts and techniques

- Demonstrated engineering capability

- Flexibility in using different approaches to influence behaviours from staff at various levels

Required qualifications/ experience

- Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering /

- Minimum 5-8 years working experience in the related industrial environment

- Background in Project management, Production and Maintenance discipline, with extensive experience in managing people and contractors

- Experience in Process Commissioning, Process Optimisation & Operations Support
