Performance Analyst

Role Profile

Purpose of Role

The Performance Analyst will play a critical role in driving data-led decision-making across Admissions and Retention. Analogous to a Financial Planning and Analytics (FP&A) role in finance, this position focuses on commercial and operational performance, using data to evaluate funnel efficiency, channel and campaign performance, conversion outcomes, cohort performance, and customer lifetime value across the student lifecycle.

This role is suited to an analyst with three to five years of experience in a rigorous B2C sales and commercial environment, who brings strong analytical discipline, structured problem-solving, and the ability to partner closely with commercial teams. The analyst is expected to not only report performance, but to form hypotheses, validate them with data, and translate insights into action, leveraging both traditional BI tools and AI‑enabled analytics workflows.

Performance Analyst – Key Responsibilities

  • End‑to‑End Funnel Analytics
  • Analyse the full enquiry → admissions → enrolment funnel across digital and offline channels.
  • Track and interpret key performance metrics including:
    • Lead volume, quality, and source mix,
    • Conversion rates across funnel stages,
    • Cost per lead / cost per enrolment,
    • Time-to-conversion and intake yield.
  • Identify structural issues, bottlenecks, and performance gaps by campus, grade, channel, and intake, and propose solutions.
  • Channel Effectiveness & ROI Analysis
  • Evaluate channel and programme effectiveness across online (website, CRM, etc) and offline (events, school visits, referrals) channels.
  • Link channel investment to downstream enrolment outcomes, not just lead volume.
  • Support A/B testing, experimentation, and programme optimisation through structured analysis.
  • Partner closely with commercial and operational leaders to validate assumptions with data.
  • Admissions & Sales Performance Insights
  • Analyse admissions pipeline health and counselor performance.
  • Support prioritisation of leads and optimisation of follow-up strategies.
  • Provide insights on conversion drivers, objections, and parental decision patterns.
  • Assist with enrolment forecasting and intake planning.
  • Retention, Loyalty & Cohort Analysis
  • Track and analyze student retention and attrition trends by cohort, tenure, grade, and campus.
  • Identify early indicators of churn and loyalty.
  • Quantify the impact of engagement, academic, or service initiatives on retention outcomes.
  • Support long-term value and cohort-based performance analysis.
  • AI‑Enabled and Structured Insight Generation
  • Use AI tools (e.g. AI copilots, advanced spreadsheet features, BI automation, prompt-based analysis) to:
    • Accelerate data analysis and reporting,
    • Automate repetitive workflows,
    • Improve speed and quality of insight generation.
  • Apply a hypothesis-driven, highly structured problem-solving approach.
  • Translate complex analyses into clear, decision-oriented narratives for senior stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain dashboards, recurring reports, and analytical frameworks that scale.

  • Leadership has clear, trusted visibility into channel, admissions, and retention performance.
  • Decisions on spend, resourcing, and strategy are increasingly data-backed and hypothesis‑tested.
  • Commercial and admissions teams operate against shared metrics and aligned performance views.

  • Strong stakeholder relations with the ability to drive collaborative working environments across the schools and regional teams.

Line management

The Performance Analyst will report to the Regional Director of Sales and Admissions, Malaysia.

Qualifications And Experience

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration/Marketing/Business Analytics or a related field.

Education-industry experience is an advantage but not essential. Candidates may show transferable skills from other high-value and predominantly B2C sales environments with a blended off/online sales and marketing approach.

  • Three to five years of experience in:
    • Business Intelligence, Commercial Analytics, Growth Analytics, FP&A, or similar roles.
    • A B2C, sales- and marketing-driven business where:
      • Marketing generates leads (online and offline).
      • Sales or admissions drives primarily offline conversion.
      • Retention and customer loyalty materially impact value.
  • Demonstrated experience in cohort-based and lifecycle analysis, including:
    • Cohort performance tracking.
    • Retention and attrition analysis.
    • Customer or student lifecycle metrics.
    • LTV or long-term value thinking (formal or informal).
  • Proven experience partnering closely with commercial teams, such as:
    • Sales or admissions teams.
    • Growth or marketing teams.
    • Regular interaction focused on improving funnel conversion, prioritisation, and performance outcomes.
  • Experience working with imperfect, real-world data and still producing decision‑useful insights.
Technical And Analytical Skills

  • Strong analytical foundations and a highly structured thinking approach.
  • High proficiency in:
    • Excel / Google Sheets (advanced formulas, structured analysis, basic modelling).
    • BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with AI tools used to:
    • Accelerate analysis and insight generation.
    • Automate or streamline recurring analytical workflows.
    • Improve clarity, speed, and productivity.
  • Experience working with CRM or lead management systems is strongly preferred.
