About the Role
MetaComp is looking for a Periodic Review Analyst / Senior Analyst to join our Malaysia Compliance team and support the ongoing review and maintenance of our customer relationships.
The role will be responsible for conducting periodic KYC/CDD reviews, customer risk-rating assessments, Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), adverse media checks, sanctions/PEP screening and customer information refreshes.
You will play an important role in ensuring that customer information remains accurate, complete and up to date throughout the customer lifecycle, while identifying changes in customer risk, ownership, business activities and transaction behaviour.
The role is particularly suited to candidates with experience in KYC, CDD, EDD, AML operations, customer due diligence, financial crime operations or periodic review within banking, payments, fintech, remittance, digital assets or other regulated financial services.
Key Responsibilities
1. Periodic Customer Reviews
- Conduct periodic reviews of existing individual and corporate customers based on established risk-based review cycles.
- Review customer KYC/CDD information to ensure it remains complete, accurate and current.
- Validate customer identity, business activities, source of funds/source of wealth and purpose of the business relationship where applicable.
- Review customer ownership and control structures, including Ultimate Beneficial Owners (UBOs).
- Identify material changes in customer circumstances, business activities, ownership or transaction behaviour.
- Ensure all reviews are completed within agreed SLAs and regulatory requirements.
2. Customer Risk Assessment
- Perform customer risk assessments and determine appropriate customer risk ratings.
- Reassess customer risk where there are changes in:
- Customer profile
- Country/geographic exposure
- Business activities
- Ownership structure
- Products/services used
- Transaction behaviour
- Adverse media
- Sanctions/PEP status
- Escalate customers requiring higher-risk treatment or EDD.
- Recommend changes to customer risk ratings where appropriate.
3. Enhanced Due Diligence
- Conduct EDD on high-risk customers and customers presenting elevated ML/TF/PF risks.
- Perform detailed reviews of:
- Source of Wealth (SOW)
- Source of Funds (SOF)
- Business model
- Nature and purpose of transactions
- Ownership and control
- Geographic exposure
- Expected transaction activity
- Assess the reasonableness and reliability of supporting documentation.
- Prepare clear and well-documented EDD assessments for Compliance approval.
4. Screening & Adverse Media
- Conduct and review customer screening against relevant:
- Sanctions lists
- PEP lists
- Watchlists
- Adverse media
- Regulatory/enforcement databases
- Investigate potential screening matches and determine whether they are true or false positives.
- Escalate confirmed or potentially material matches in accordance with internal procedures.
- Identify negative news or reputational concerns that may affect the customer's risk profile.
5. Transaction & Customer Behaviour Review
- Review customer transaction activity as part of the periodic review process.
- Assess whether transaction activity is consistent with:
- Customer profile
- Declared business activities
- Expected transaction volume
- Source of funds
- Purpose of the relationship
- Assigned customer risk rating
- Identify unusual, unexplained or inconsistent transaction patterns.
- Escalate potential financial crime concerns to Transaction Monitoring / AML Investigation teams where appropriate.
BNM's AML/CFT framework specifically expects ongoing due diligence to consider whether transactions are consistent with the institution's knowledge of the customer, business and risk profile, including source of funds where necessary.
6. KYC Remediation
- Follow up with customers and internal stakeholders to obtain missing or expired KYC documents.
- Manage KYC remediation cases and ensure outstanding information is obtained within defined timelines.
- Identify deficiencies in existing customer files and recommend appropriate remediation.
- Escalate customers who fail to provide sufficient information or documentation.
- Support customer restrictions, account review or exit processes where required.
7. Regulatory & Compliance Requirements
- Ensure periodic reviews are conducted in accordance with applicable Malaysian AML/CFT/CPF and sanctions requirements.
- Maintain strong documentation and audit trails for all customer review decisions.
- Ensure customer records and risk profiles are updated following completion of reviews.
- Support internal compliance reviews, audits and regulatory examinations.
- Assist in preparing management information and reports relating to periodic review performance and KYC remediation.
8. Process & Control Improvement
- Identify recurring issues and weaknesses within the periodic review process.
- Recommend improvements to KYC workflows, review methodology and operational controls.
- Work with Compliance Operations, Product, Technology and KYC teams to improve review efficiency.
- Support automation and optimisation of periodic review workflows.
- Contribute to the development of review procedures, checklists and quality standards.
Requirements
- 2–5 years of experience in KYC, CDD, EDD, AML, Financial Crime Operations, Periodic Review or Compliance Operations.
- Experience in banking, payments, fintech, remittance, digital assets, e-wallets or other regulated financial services preferred.
- Strong understanding of:
- KYC/CDD
- EDD
- Customer risk assessment

- PEP and sanctions screening

- Source of Funds / Source of Wealth
- Experience conducting periodic reviews for individual and corporate customers.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills.
- Ability to assess customer information and identify inconsistencies or potential financial crime risks.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline.
- Ability to work against high-volume review queues and defined SLAs.
- Good written and verbal English communication skills.
- Comfortable working with internal systems, KYC platforms and compliance databases.
Preferred Qualifications
- ACAMS, ICA or other AML/financial crime certification.
- Experience with Malaysian AML/CFT requirements regulatory expectations.
- Experience reviewing corporate / institutional customers.
- Experience with higher-risk customers and complex ownership structures.
- Experience within a payments, remittance or digital asset environment.
- Mandarin or Bahasa Malaysia proficiency is an advantage.
