Job Description

I am looking for a potential PhD candidate to join my team at Monash University Malaysia to work on the project:

Resolving the Rate Decline Bottleneck in Enzymatic Hydrolysis of Cellulose Through High-Dimensional Population Balance Modeling of Substrate Structural Heterogeneity and Enzyme Interactions

This will be a fully-funded position with a monthly stipend of RM2800 for 36 months under the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS).

Required Attributes:

1) A strong background in engineering or applied mathematics.

2) Exceptional mathematical and programming skills (MATLAB is essential).

3) A passion for linking advanced computational models with experimental validation.

Your 1-page Statement of Interest must briefly discuss:

a) How your specific mathematical and programming (MATLAB) background prepares you for the computational challenge (e.g., your experience with numerical methods, differential equations, or building solvers).

b) Your initial thoughts on the experimental challenge (e.g., how you would design an experiment to ensure high-quality data is generated for model identification).

Applications without this specific 1-page statement will not be considered.

The successful candidate is expected to enroll between December 2025 and May 2026. (Per FRGS rules, Malaysian candidates will be prioritized during the initial 3-month search. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.)
