Position Summary:
- Provide physiotherapy services to patients and their families including assessment, treatment program planning and implementation, education and related documentation and communication.
- Assist patients with injuries by restoring their mobility, relieving pain and educating them in disease or injury prevention.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive assessment - physical condition of patients to diagnose problems and plan appropriate treatment.
- Cooperate with families and other members of the professional team in the planning and delivery of programs for patients.
- Monitor and evaluate treatment in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of the intervention.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and records.
- Use a range of techniques to strengthen and stretch muscles and joints to improve patient mobility.
- Perform spinal and peripheral joint mobilization and manipulation.
- Use equipment such as heat packs, exercise equipment, ice packs, ultrasound and electrotherapy to ease pain, reduce swelling and improve range movement.
- Assess, prescribe, teach and monitor assistive devices (walking frames, splints, crutches and wheelchairs) for mobility.
- Educate patients, their families and the community to prevent injury and disability and to lead healthy lifestyles.
- Provide regular updates and advise to staff and families regarding the safe handling of patients.
- Prepare reports summarizing patient's reaction and progress to treatment.
- Consult with physician on patient's progress, maintain accurate documentation.
- Conduct internal training programs for medical and nursing staff on physiotherapy techniques and objectives.
- Participate in continuous educational programs and in service meetings.
- Help plan and implement community fitness programs.
- Assist to establish and maintain departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety environmental and infection control standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Education and Requirements:
- Diploma/ Certificate in Physiotherapy.
- Registered with the Malaysia Physiotherapist Association
- Valid annual practicing certificate where applicable.
Special Demands:
- Good physical health. Heavy lifting, moving equipment and standing for long periods of time may occur.
- Possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
