We are seeking an experienced PI System Support Engineer with strong expertise in the AVEVA PI System to support real-time data infrastructure for industrial operations. The role involves administration, development, and optimization of enterprise data historian systems, enabling data-driven decision-making for operational excellence.
The engineer will work closely with business users, site engineers, and IT teams to ensure reliable data acquisition, modeling, visualization, and analytics across the organization.
Job Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform data historian data management activity - works with users to maintain consistent and up-to-date tags, calculations, and asset model and user screens.
- Uses a hands-on approach with users to enhance data value through system tools and data modeling.
- Monitors data quality, performs daily management and operations of productions real-time data historian and co-ordinates with IT to perform system maintenance, monitoring, backup, and retrieval as necessary.
- Configuration of tags and PI interfaces as per requirements across different historian servers in a network to enable data flow.
- Develop & maintain facilities & other hierarchy in PI AF and map tags to attributes. Develop analysis/notifications rules using PI AF as per user requirements. Create dashboards using PI Vision software. Proactively monitor real-time data on a continuous basis for any inconsistencies (data quality checks) and work with site Engineers for resolution.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 4+ years of experience with the AVEVA PI System
- Strong knowledge of PI components such as PI Data Archive, PI Asset Framework (AF), PI Vision, and PI Web API
- Hands-on experience in configuring and supporting PI Interfaces and Connectors to integrate data from PLC/SCADA/DCS systems
- Ability to create and manage tags, ensuring accurate, consistent, and reliable real-time data
- Experience in building and maintaining asset hierarchies in PI AF and mapping tags to attributes
- Skilled in developing analytics, calculations, event frames, and notifications based on business requirements
- Experience creating dashboards and visualizations using PI Vision
- Strong understanding of data quality checks, monitoring missing or incorrect data, and resolving issues
- Ability to perform daily system monitoring, troubleshooting, and coordination with IT for maintenance and backups
- Good problem-solving skills to handle data gaps, interface issues, and system errors
- Effective communication skills to work with engineers, users, and IT teams
- Experience in oil & gas, manufacturing, or industrial environments is a plus
