The Planning Manager is responsible for developing and managing production plans, material requirements, and capacity utilization to ensure customer demand is met on time while maintaining optimum inventory, resource efficiency, and operational stability.
Job Responsibilities
Production Planning and Scheduling
- Develop short-, medium-, and long-term production plans based on customer demand, forecast, capacity, and material availability.
- Monitor schedule adherence and take corrective action to recover delays or backlog.
Capacity and Resource Planning
- Analyze production capacity, machine loading, labor availability, and bottleneck constraints.
- Identify capacity gaps and recommend overtime, additional shifts, outsourcing, or resource reallocation.
Material Requirements Planning
- Review material requirements and ensure timely availability of components, raw materials, and consumables.
- Coordinate with procurement, warehouse, and suppliers to address shortages and delivery risks.
Demand and Backlog Management
- Review customer orders, forecasts, backlog, and changing demand requirements.
- Translate demand requirements into realistic production and delivery plans.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with production, procurement, warehouse, quality, engineering, logistics, and program management teams.
- Lead planning meetings to review production status, shortages, constraints, and recovery actions.
- Ensure alignment between customer commitments and factory execution.
Production Monitoring and Control
- Track daily production performance against the approved plan.
- Update planning systems and tracking reports with accurate information.
- Drive timely closure of overdue orders and recovery actions.
Planning Systems and Data Accuracy
- Maintain accurate master production schedules, planning parameters, lead times, and order dates.
- Ensure data integrity in ERP, MRP, and production planning systems.
Continuous Improvement
- Improve planning processes, scheduling methods, and workflow efficiency.
- Participate in projects related to ERP enhancement, digital planning, and automation.
Performance and Management Reporting
- Track key planning and supply chain performance indicators, including:
- Schedule adherence.
- On-time delivery.
- Capacity utilization.
- Prepare clear and accurate reports for senior management review.
- Highlight issues requiring management decisions and cross-functional support.
Team Leadership and Development
- Guide planners and coordinate planning activities across assigned production areas.
Customer and Supplier Support
- Support customer delivery reviews and provide realistic order completion dates.
- Communicate potential delivery risks and recovery plans to program or customer service teams.
Compliance and Operational Discipline
- Ensure planning activities comply with company procedures and customer requirements.
- Maintain proper records for production orders, schedule revisions, material shortages, and recovery actions.
- Support internal, customer, and system audits related to planning and delivery performance.
Qualification & Experience
- Minimum Degree / Master in related field
- Minimum 10 years of Material Management experience.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office, Planning Software and ERP such as Oracle.
- Production and Shipment Planning, preferably using Oracle or similar ERP Software.
- Knowledge in the Automotive Quality System, Just-In-Time Delivery requirements and have the required hands-on shipping and delivery experience such as DAP, DDU, Ex-work and familiar with the related local custom clearance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, work well with diverse groups of people and be able to function independently away from direct supervision.
